SDR Console and RX-888 MKII #sdr-consolev3
My new RX-888 MKII was running without problems with SDRC from the beginning. The experience was quite impressive.
What I couldn't find by now: How can I adjust/switch the RX-888 MKII's internal gain and attenuation stages and the Bias-T? In the settings dialogue I can of course choose bandwith/SR and ADC settings. Obviously I'm too blind ...

With SDRC you don't. I'm in a state of interruption on working up a hack work around. {O_O} On 20220723 08:17:37, Dirk wrote:

Thanks for the info Joanne! That's good news. In the meantime: looks as if gain is permanent min, attenuation max and Bias-T off. Is that true?

Are there any plans to add this functionality to SDR Console?

Add what functionality?

Ah,
Well, the RX888 and RX888 MkII are supported. From the API I think they're the same thing..

Just to make clear, what I was talking about in my starter post: Other than the RX888 the RX-888 MKII has a digital attenuator (PE4312) only for HF and a VGA (AD8370 [the RX888 has a fixed LNA!]) for both HF and VHF.
That means, the attenuation/amplification range of the RX-888 MKII is from -41,5 dB to +33 dB for HF and from 0 dB to +55 dB for VHF (as Jinze Peng wrote). I don't know what the driver API allows for the RX888 and the RX-888 MKII, but for a fully supported RX-888 MKII I would expect: 1. Slider for attenuation -31,5...0 dB for HF only 2. Slider for gain -10...+33 dB (?) for HF and VHF (or even extended VHF range, if the R828D allows additional gain stages!) 3. 2 checkboxes for HF- and VHF-Bias-T on/off

I'll take a quick look tomorrow.
The RX888 actually doesn't have an API DLL or library as such, just a mass of code.

Doesn't the MKII have 64Mhz BW?
Think it would be helpful to have the option of choosing RX-888 or MKII in the receiver list, especially with the differences Dirk mentions
|
|
Doesn't the MKII have 64Mhz BW?Yes, the RX-888 MKII has a lowpass filter 64 MHz in the HF path, so it is built to use the HF input up to 64 MHz and VHF above 64 MHz. With the RX888 this limit is -as far as I know- 32 MHz. So a driver for the RX-888 MKII would have to switch between the RF inputs at 64 MHz. This is also a difference to the RX888.

It is in my project queue. I can feed Simon with information
about distinguishing one from another and controlling stuff RX666
does not have. One of the items in the project queue here has
fallen into the recently done pile. So there is hope. Maybe I can
get back to what I'd been doing in a week or so.

I'm fighting something else so getting in to dig out the data will take me awhile.
There is a way to dive in and pull out the serial number. On my machine it is not reliable. But the EXTIO code uses another hook to determine type. As soon as I get eyes on that code again I'll try to deal with it and get you data.
Let's see if I read the questions correctly. 1. difference as in RX666, RX888, and RX888 MKII? 2. Um, API code? It seems the only way in at the moment is the
EXTIO route. Anything else gets to use the Cypress USB API plus
guesswork for addresses to use. The easy approach would be to
build code to use EXTIO and never use it's GUI, do that part
yourself feeding the values into the EXTIO with your own GUI.

Do you want the address for the SDDC EXTIO driver to drag stuff out of?
