Pluto: Interrupted transmit, usage via network #adalmpluto
DM6TT Marcus
Hi guys,
I'm using an lan connected Adalm Pluto and have dicontinued transmit. For me, it looks like a buffer problem. Test: Connect TX -> RX with 50dB Attenuation. Transmit 1KHz continuous tone at round about 200MHz. The transmit breaks every some seconds, no continuous tone is received. I played around the the buffer size, with no result: The current transmit status looks rather high. I connected the PC and the Pluto on the same 1G switch and even tried it with a 2nd switch, here no better result as well. I also used SDR-Console 3.1 and 3.2, same behavour. I reduced the RX bandwidth to the smallest possible value, this done not help as well. Since the Pluto is built in a case, it is not so easy testing in pure USB. Does someone have a hint how I can fix it? I'm using the setup for QO100, here it ist just a test for fiddling out the chopped voice problem. Thanks Marcus |

try with SMALLER buffers ...(on most networks 50ms or max 100ms works well) smaller chunks but more often the pluto streams more constant
..(same on usb!!) lower cpu load with lowering waterfall speed, set priority up in start options of sdr console, close not needed things in console etc... if everything fails i offer you a teamviewer meeting and in parallel talk via telegram or whatsapp (whatever you prefer) then i can try to setup your console remote (did that over a few dozen times for other sdrc v3 users with a pluto) "schönen 3ten Advent" dg9bfc sigi Am 11.12.2022 um 13:21 schrieb DM6TT

So,
Something in the way the network is constructed. Any Wi-Fi? Any extra routers with possible
packet sniffing?

or an avm fritzbox with mixed speeds on the different ports that also may cause breaks dg9bfc sigi Am 11.12.2022 um 14:54 schrieb Simon

Hi I also experienced 'stuttering' audio with the Pluto, in this case the connection was via a virtual audio cable. WSJT-X was the audio source. Played with buffers, sample rates etc but was not able to solve it. OK2AQ (who is successfully using a Pluto on receive and transmit on 1296 EME) commented: I have not "I did have problem with VB Audio (W10 and SDR-Console 3.0.21). For Tx I add even one VB Audio and had the problem with unstable Tx level as you wrote. After longer unsuccessful experimentation with adjustment parameters I bought VAC465 for about 30 US$ and problem was solved." I have not tried Mirek's suggestion yet. 73 Charlie DL3WDG On Sun, 11 Dec 2022 at 14:54, Simon Brown <simon@...> wrote:

The switch does not matter. The Pluto is a USB 2 device that falls down to 100 M Ethernet. That means you must use the lower Pluto sample rates. Your tiny images are unreadable so how about trying full size images attached to your message? {^_^} On 20221211 04:21:57, DM6TT Marcus

Hi Simon,
no wifi in between , all LAN connected. I'm a network guy and have a Switch with monitoring port available. I will build the stuff up for sniffing the Pluto traffic with Wireshark. 73, Marcus |

Hi Siggi,
your hint about smaller TX buffer is the solution. I reduced the buffer to 10 and 30ms and with this tested sizes it works flawlessly. The 50ms default does not work without interrupts. Now I'm back on QO100, thanks a lot. 73, Marcus |

set ALL soundcards (real and virtual) to 48 sampling i also used wsjtx and connected to sdrc via vb cable a and b ...
no problem :-) dg9bfc sigi ps try smaller buffers .. that often solves it Am 11.12.2022 um 15:35 schrieb Charles
