Lime SDR Mini - Odd Two Peak Pattern on Many Frequencies
k6msm@...
I'm getting this pattern at many bands that I've tested on the Mini. I've tried different bandwidths and with enough fiddling it will sometimes go away and be flat again. Must be a bad setting somewhere. It's generally ok in the V/U ham bands if that means anything. I am using a V/U vertical right now for wideband receive. I will try another antenna, but this seems like a software side problem. Any thoughts?
Thank you, Mike K6MSM |

Mike,
I’m guessing it’s the settings in the .ini file. I’m not familiar with lime’s software which is used to create this .ini file.

I was able to duplicate the problem by launching SDR Console, then going to another frequency and then going back to the first one. Relaunching SDR console solves it and stop and restart sometimes solves it, until I change frequencies again. Attached are screen caps to illustrate. No settings or antennas were changed between these 3 caps other than going to another frequency and then going back to the original. I tried both antenna "ports." It didn't happen the first time but it did the 2nd. Now when I relaunch SDR Console it doesn't go back to normal at the moment. Fun stuff...

Ah,
Looks like the frequency change isn’t behaving properly. Take a look in the logfile for any errors (or attach here). I’ll maybe have time to look at this next week.

Thanks, Simon. Will do.
I also suspect it's overheating. I left it on the WX frequencies about and it was fine. I just checked and now it's all noise. The signal history log has it going to noise at about 5 minutes after I started it and I just plugged it in right before that. I have the aluminum case version. I might need to buy some heat sinks for it or figure out if the case can be removed. Mike K6MSM |

I have been wondering about a heat riser dimentions from the GPU and Radio to the case ... it make silly uber sense to use the case as a heatsink .... Why transfer heat to the inside air, then from the inside air to the outside air !!!! Iv been thinking of how to make very close measurement my self ... and all i can come up with is using 2 toothpics that are rubber cemented to the case == GPU then also Radio ( not necessarily as a single block ) ... Make the connection so that it can accordion in some way .... and put fresh/wet glue on the toothpicks and put the case on and let it dry ( with the ends off ) open it up after ... toothpicks come out easy from rubber cement ( i hope ) On Fri, Aug 31, 2018, 11:44 AM <k6msm@...> wrote: Thanks, Simon. Simon,
I just tested it and found this error in the log file: 17:32:11.386: Radio LimeSDR> Calibration error - Rx calibration: MCU error 5 (Loopback signal weak: not connected/insufficient gain?) What's the best way to post the log here, since it's quite long, if you want to see the whole thing? Thanks, Mike K6MSM |

Hi Simon,
What would you like to see from me next? I will try the Mini in the car to see if I can duplicate the result on that laptop. Mike K6MSM |

Hi Mike,
I’m a bit busy at the moment, this is high on my to-look-at list.

QSL, Simon. Thanks.
More info for now: I tested it on the mobile laptop and got the same result. Attached is the log and the screen cap. I'm going to try my work desktop over lunch. Mike K6MSM |

Office desktop results the same and I just did a clean SDR install. Intermittent twin peaks when changing frequencies.
Caps and log for review. Anyone else with a Lime-SDR Mini reading this? I am curious for results on another Lime-SDR Mini. I'm going to try getting another SDR program running again when I can, so far no luck except for Pothos and I don't know how to use that well enough. Mike K6MSM |

Mike,
I *will* look at this, but for today and tomorrow I’m busy with some other code. One thing I noticed with the Lime Mini is that it must be cool.

I've contacted Crowd Supply for a replacement, but not response yet. I'd like to get my $ back and get the bladeRF 2.0, but that's probably not possible since it's over 30 days now.
No one else here has chimed in. Am I the only one with a Lime Mini on here? Mike K6MSM |

Sometimes I also have these two peak patterns with the SDR Console V3. My LimeSDR mini shows no test errors (Lime QuickTest) and is OK. The two peak patterns never occur when I use CubicSDR. I hope that with a new SDR-Console 3 version the problem can be solved. TX implementation is still missing. Maybe wait for the next versions? Greetings Khut.

Send it to me .... I have a standard USB ... i use ubuntu 18.03 and i do have Tx when using USB3.0.... If you want testing of the mini ... If you do ... ill need frequencys and samplerate .... I use SdrAngel/Gqrx On Fri, Sep 7, 2018, 10:11 AM Klaus Hutschenreuther <klaus.hutschenreuther@...> wrote: Sometimes I also have these two peak patterns with the SDR Console V3. hope you don't mind another picture of a different operating system and software I do not have any filtering ... and im getting some FM mixed in from something ... next to the oscillator frequency .... center On Fri, Sep 7, 2018, 10:27 AM Michael Durkin <Kc7noa@...> wrote:

Mike,
I’ve been busy learning some new coding this week. I have this problem high on my to-do list, it’s probably a bug / issue I can fix with software, but every now and then I take a break from the daily SDR coding.

No worries, Simon. Thank you. I just wanted to see if anyone else had the problem in the interim.
Looks like they may. I took a break from the Mini for a couple days as I was getting obsessed with fixing it. I still was unable to get another SDR to work. Maybe I'll have better luck now or maybe I really need to get serious about Linux. I hadn't Cubic yet. Gqrx just gives me nothing. No waterfall. I only want something else to work to test it. No other SDR comes close to SDR Console IMO. Mike K6MSM |
