Issue with SDR Server #sdrserver

NexTech Z

I am needing some help and advice concerning the Server. I've used Server for quite a while now with no issue. I know how to set it up and configure Port Forwarding. I start SDR Console. I select the server and definitions. I click the SDRSpace.com and my radio account is visible with a green check mark out to the left side. I highlight that and click select. That is as far as I can go. Console never sees the account. Yes, I can log onto and use other accounts. I've tried different configurations (default and others).
I've checked the external address and port 50101 and it is correct and usable. I can ping the IP address without issue. I have loaded SDR Console on multiple computers and get the same NON results. I do have one account set up in Server.
I have another non related app that uses port forwarding and it works fine. I'm pulling my hair out. I have not tried running Server on another computer yet. I know there is something simple I'm missing. I work in IT. But, couldn't prove it with my inability to solve this issue.  If anyone has any suggestions or if you need more info and possible screen captures, please let me know.

What is the name of the server so we can test it?
I don't see any with your call on the list as of 0214Z 10/18/20

The important thing is on the 'On Air' tab, a default username and password has to be entered. It doesn't have to be incredibly long or super secret,
it gets passed along to the guest user upon connection anyway. I still use V1.5's defaults:

Same username and password has to be in at least one account:

Those are the most common gotchas.

Oh, BTW, please use a valid call so one can look you up on QRZ.com when it's stuck, acting weird, or broken, we can and drop you an email.

Be careful of the default setting of starting the service. Default is ON so when the computer is repurposed/used for something else or taken to another
location (IP change), it won't be pining Simon's server saying all is well when it's really not!  This is why we have so many 'bad' servers listed:
http://onairv3.sdrspace.com/onair-v3.xml

The default settings of the 'service', which runs in the background even though the 'Service Manager' is not open.
Just be mindful if the computer is loaned out or relocated. This had me chasing a phantom server for a few hours:

Before the service is started, one needs to hit 'Save' and be sure 'Enable' is checked, or you will never see an OK on the bottom:
(maybe Simon can chime in here to get the proper order, Save, Enable, then Start or Start, Save, Enable, or??? There is a proper way as I recall!)

Those are the other two gotchas.
I do have a step by step procedure for setting up a server published last year or so with text and pretty pictures:

Ruben,

As Kriss suggest, post the screenshots.

Are you trying to access from inside your LAN or via the WAN – not clear to me. If via the LAN then try your local address, probably starts 192.168…

OK and thank you for the responses. I was working so it took me a while to respond. Here are some screen shots. My call is NB4R. At present the RSPduo is the only radio
connected. Everything I have here looks like what you have presented. Something I just thought about, Since I'm on the same network and not at a different physical location I may not be able to hit the external address. Please try it. Thanks again  Ruben NB4R

Correct, you must use the local address of the server. Really depends on your router.

Arg,, It doesn't connect to the local address either.  I find it strange that I can see it on SDRSpace.com but cannot connect . I can connect to other radios on the list

OK,

If it doesn’t connect what’s the error? Firewall?

I am curious if anyone has been able to log on to my radio and use it. I thought I would be able to log into it locally. I've not been able to do that either.  SDRConsole runs perfectly. Thank you for your attention and help.

Here's what I get when I try to use your server:

If I click on view as text:

I got it!

You have something entered in the Firewall tab!

That Firewall tab is used to lock out specific IP address(s) of abusive users. So leave it blank for now!

Hello Kriss,
Thank you for that information. That may have did the trick. I removed an IP address from the "Firewall" you pointed to.   I can log on locally now without trouble. I'm not sure when or why I out an entry there. I know the server was working one day and the next day it didn't I looked at that today. I should have read the help information. I can't test it any further right now. I will look at it again tomorrow. I bet that resolved the issue. I was beginning to believe it was the cable modem. That didn't make any sense since every thing else I have running on the network is working fine. Thank you again. You helped my migraine headache get a little better. Good night and have a great week!

I was just now able to look and see if I could figure how I made the error. There are two places under firewall where you can fill "Allow" or "Block" I assumed that if the "Allow" was marked that any IP address listed was passed. My miscalculation. Thanks Again! Have a great day!
