IQ 'Rewind/Replay' feature (?)
Greetings All
Desired feature : IQ replay, a continuous loop circular buffer of (?) seconds of recorded IQ a) choose a frequency : current, memory selection, favorite selection, etc b) select a depth of replay, eg: 3 secs, 5 secs, 10 secs, etc ... maybe a right-click drop-down menu (?) c) sdr replays last #-secs of IQ is this already in SDRC somewhere ? it seems I recall that the sdr that was used with QS1R radio back around 2009 (?) had this feature thanks for guidance, or consideration for new feature (Simon) ! You can do this in the Navigator window but it could be simpler, maybe a right-click option.

Hi Simon
I missed this until just now checking for follow-up ... I do not find 'Navigator' , unless this refers to the whole user interface, ribbon, etc but nonetheless, is the program (A) always buffering/FIFO-ing the IQ/waterfall (?), so it the last ?-X-? seconds are spooled for replay ? or, is it necessary to (B) 'Record' and then play back ? If it's the case (A) that the data has been captured and can rewind/play, please say a bit on how to do this. Thanks ! Paul N8CVW |

I hope this helps:
As for the question: replay only from a recording file.

that nudged me along a little ... my window was not 'full screen' and so the Navigator button was hidden so once I activate the Playback window, I do not see how to 'rewind' into a live/contemporaneous session ... (?) I ca n select an IQ recording and play that ok, but I cannot figure out where to find the 'FIFO buffer' of what has just been heard (??) is there a tutorial ? |
|
reading the "data-recording" section of the documentation <...doh...>
I'm understanding that a recording must be initiated, and that there isn't already a 'live buffer' always being maintained is that correct ? |

You can start another session of Console to play live or record while you attend to the IQ files.

Paul,
You can only loop when playing back a recording. I did think about a possibility of playing a loop while running live but never added it.

I'm not seeing how this answers my question as to whether there is already a 'recording' in progress, 'looping' in the background, that I can access any time I wish (?) or, must I 'initiate a recording' in advance of being able to rewind and playback an analogy might be automobile dash cams that are constantly spooling video so if there's a crash you already have ? - 30 seconds ? of video preceding the event I still haven't seen this question addressed many thanks for your response Paul N8CVE -- - + - + -

I see ...
is there a way to turn on recording to 'always record' as a wrap-around so that the oldest is over-written ? and then if buffer size / duration is also an option, we're most of the way there Paul N8CVW |
