Gain and offset sliders in SDRC?

John Miller K8UMF

Hi,

How does one access the gain and offset sliders in SDRC? I find references to them but no indication about how to access them. Many thanks in advance for any help.

Depends on the SDR

the SDR is RSP1A and I am using SDRC V3.

Thanks!

John, attached is a screen capture of my system using an RSP2 Pro. I circled the radio settings on the "Home" ribbon tab.

I am not sure what you mean by "offset", however.

Hi Dennis, Thank you for your reply. The offset here is the top of the noise floor. In my case, the peak of the noise floor is about 70% of the full signal range in the spectrum and is somewhat analogous to the offset control with an oscilloscope to correct for DC offset.

I think what you are looking for are the controls I circled in the attached picture. You need to hover over this area to display the controls.

Hi Simon,

The problem here is that a good deal of the display dynamic range is lost since the noise floor is about half scale as shown in the screen capture. How can I move the noise floor closer to the X-axis? I realize that this unrelated to reception.

Many thanks for your help!

  1. Ribbon Bar, View, Spectrum, Scale
  2. As you move the mouse around the display look for the Red buttons - click on High, Low...

Wow, that was easy and I was making it so hard. Many thanks for your help.

John, I think you need to adjust the "visual gain". Can you take a snapshot of the screen with the Home tab shown so I can see your radio settings? Also, please attach the screen capture file do not embed it in the email.

I have attached a short video that shows the effect of adjusting the visual gain.

There is something that purports to do that. I find it fails me almost completely because of the way Simon has implemented it.
