I need to update my old HP8200 and am looking around. I found this at Best Buy for $899,
Lenovo - IdeaCentre Gaming 5i Gaming Desktop - Intel Core i7-12700 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 LHR .
So I am looking for any recommendations, or thoughts on the Lenovo? I have a ELAD S3 which allows me to look at 24MHz of band width.

If you've had Lenovo and had good luck I suppose that would be good. Based on my personal experience with a Lenovo laptop I refuse to go anywhere near that trash company. They claimed it had USB3. They did not. It was an experimental version that was not fully compatible with the specifications. The damn thing overheated and throttled so badly I could not watch videos on it at all. And it was FULL of their idiot cruft (and probably spy ware.)

Just FWIW,
I'm developing with a 12th gen Intel NUC using the i5-1250P chip, this has 8 performance and 8 efficient threads - no CUDA. It can't run FFT at 24 MHz - a single thread's maximum seems to be ~22MHz, so I'm updating the FFT code to use multiple
threads - goal is to run 48 MHz or more.
Hope to have this running by end of tomorrow.

I'm running an AMD Ryzen 5 based Lenovo Ideacentre and it has been excellent. Performance is really good and the price was very reasonable. My only complaint about the machine as delivered was that it only had USB3 ports on the front panel - but I added a USB3 expansion card and it runs very well.

Thanks Martin and all. I spent most of yesterday evening looking and the Lenovo the Best Buy Has is by fay the best deal. It has a NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX™ 3060 LHR 12GB graphic card that sells for around $400, which is included in the $899 price. I will need more USB plugs, Amazon has a Express card that has 7 USB ports. I will also need a second sound card and will take it out of my old computer.
I use my computer for my ham shack and am running HRD and WSJTX, a SDR-Kits VNWA , 4 SDR Receivers Siglent SDS 1202 Scope, SSA 3021 and a SDG2042 AWG. So you can see there is a lot going on with the computer.

Hi,
I took a look at the ad and I don't see any mention of what version of windows is installed (home pro, or heaven forbid windows 11 S). 11S requires you to use Edge and also will only install apps from the microsoft app store. My guess is that it is NOT 11S
but it might be worth checking into.

If you look for a good laptop.. Use business line not consumer line.. They are a bit better in my view... Not so many bings and boings but robust...
I use that hp (mobile workstation) and it works fine..
I7 quad with 32gb ram.. Clocked around 3.4 to 3.5 ghz with a small nvidia card add on... No Formula one racer but good enough for my needs.. Bought as a refurbished one...

It has a NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX™ 3060 LHR 12GB graphic card that sells for around $400, which is included in the $899 price. I will need more USB plugs, Amazon has a Express card that has 7 USB ports. I will also need a second sound card and will take it out of my old computer.I use my computer for my ham shack and am running HRD and WSJTX, a SDR-Kits VNWA , 4 SDR Receivers Siglent SDS 1202 Scope, SSA 3021 and a SDG2042 AWG. So you can see there is a lot going on with the computer.Everett N4CY
