ADS-B Decoder for SDRConsole ?
David Slipper
I have an RTL-SDR dongle and am looking for a decoder for ADS-B that can be used under/with SDR-Console.
If it can show a map of the received positions, even better. TIA Dave |

Dave, I am not SDR Console is the place for this. Have you looked at Virtual Radar Server (https://www.virtualradarserver.co.uk/)? I use a Raspberry Pi to run dump1090 and then Virtual Radar server to display the locations on a map.

Dave,
I don't know a way for Windows with SDRConsole. My setup was: - ADSB# (ADS-B program as former part of the SDRSharp software), you can download it still here: ADSB# - Virtual Radar Server (VRS), download: Virtual Radar Server - You'll also need data from here (silhouette logos, flags, operator logos...): Flags, logos ... 1. Install the 2 programs 2. Make a new directory "Kinetic" on the same physical drive VRS and ADSB# are on with 3 sub-directories: BaseStations, Flags, Silhouettes. 3. Copy the downloaded flags and logos to the Flags and Silhouettes directories. 4. VRS "Tools - Options": - a) In "Data Sources": fill in the 2 directories Flags and Silhouettes. - b) In "Receivers": add your RTL-SDR stick and give it a name. Format: "AVR or Beast Raw Feed" - c) More "Options": Connection type: "Network", Address: "127.0.0.1", Port: "47806". "Receiver Locations": fill in the own location (Home). - d) Close "Options" 5. Start ADSB#, choose the right RTL-SDR stick, adjust gain and "Start" reception 6. VRS: If "The web server is online" appears, you should see ADS-B transmissions in the "Feed status". Now click on the link "http://127.0.0.1/VirtualRadar" to open your browser. 7. Now a chart should be shown on your browser with some airplanes (if there are any above you...) 8. You can get more infos about the planes you see here: FlightRadar24 |

Hi Dave,
I’m not aware that ADS-B can be decoded directly with SDR Console. I know that SDRSharp has the capability to decode ADS-B, possibly requiring a plugin. I also believe that SDR++ can also decode ADS-B. SDR-Angel can decode ADS-B as well.
I’m not trying to steer you away from SDR Console, as it is my favorite SDR software. I’m just pointing out options.

SDRUno also has a plugin for ADS-B.

How do they integrate with SDR#?

ADSB# WAS a part of SDRSharp in older versions.
Didn't integrate with SDRSharp but was a separate program. |

Don't that I know of. Properly it requires a wider bandwidth than the rtlsdr gongle offers. An AirSpy mini or AirSpy (R2) would be required. ADSB is a different .exe file in the distribution. You run one or the other. {^_^}

ADSBSpu, airspy_adsb, AirspyCalibrate, AstroSpy, SDRSharp, spyserver, and spyserver_ping are the related exe files in the distribution. (httpget is part of a batch file install tool for rtlsdras are unzip and zip.) {^_^} On 20230119 22:08:24, Dirk wrote:

Jdow,
I've been running an $11 RTL dongle for years as am ADSB server on a Raspberry Pi. That's about the ONLY thing I would use one of those for. It's been in the attic on a DIY stacked colinear antenna non stop for several years, with the occasional power outages during storms. Now the RFI that the Pi creates, that's a different story. 73 de Kriss in SNOWY NH... |

It mostly works. It is a little too narrow so it lacks sensitivity. {^_^} On 20230120 04:02:37, Kriss Kliegle
