CWSKIMMER
Hi all
Can anyone tell me why CW Skimmer is showing mirror images on the trace?
I have posts relating to this but none have sorted it out.
Thanks

This shows you are sending a mono signal to CW Skimmer on the VAC. On my system it was caused by a system-wide setting in Windows after a fresh Windows 11 install. Hit the Win key to bring up Start Menu, then type the word "Mono" and it should give you the option to go to Mono Audio Options: Make sure this option is OFF. It's very powerful! If it is not that then check the VAC you are using is set to be stereo. Also make 100% sure that the VAC you have set in the SDRC CW Skimmer settings is totally unique to only to CW Skimmer. So make sure it's definitely NOT set to the same VAC you are using to also output main audio from SDRC. I say that because your CWS display looks very "ringy". It should look much cleaner. I also find for some reason that when CWS is first connected, it seems to need just one touch of the Zoom control in SDRC to make the display in CWS clear. I think it's something to do with the relationship of the waterfall display on SDRC to what gets sent down the VAC to CWS. Good luck. Max |

What SDR? Is the line just above 114 the centre LO? Or a strong signal? (I believe it is not, the centre should be 10117.20.) There is no mirror centred on that frequency. Do you see it with no antenna? Whatever it is there is a degree of symmetry around it but not total. It could be poor image rejection but not if 10117.20 is the centre. 73 Alan G4ZFQ |

But do check the VAC is uniquely allocated as per earlier post. Also try different settings on the Audio type, i.e. MME, Direct Sound etc. Sometimes one works perfectly when one gives poor results. I really don't know why that should be. Max |

Hm, as usual MS gets it wrong. With partial hearing in one ear it
helps to have a controlled mix with a fader from 100% left to left
all the way to 100% left to right. (And R to R over to R to L)
Trust me, that's the cat's meow. That is the way my equipment is
setup externally to the computer with a cheap external ratshack
mini mixer board. {^_^} On 20230207 06:33:28, Max wrote:

Wrong sideband and normal image? That definitely is an I channel
only signal. perfect symmetry would require continuous tones. Look
at FM broadcast spectra. That is NOT AM modulation that leaves the
sidebands assymetric. It is a feature of the FFT process. {^_^} On 20230207 06:40:22, Alan G4ZFQ wrote:
