I think the S3 is natively providing 16 bit data, would others agree? In which case recording at 16 bit is exactly what I'd want? Or am I confusing specs?

From memory,

the RFspace NetSDR returns 24-bit data for some sample rates, hance the option of storing as 32-bit floats. The data written is as received from the radio.

For 99.9% of cases 16-bit is fine.

I'm quite sure you gain nothing from using 32-bit recordings vs. 16-bit. I did compare the two with different kinds of DX a long time ago and found no difference. What you hear on 32-bit recordings you will hear equally well on 16-bit recordings. I don't know for MS DX of course, so setting up your own test might be useful.

Not here as the S3 delivers 16-bit data anyway. 32-bit is only of use in a few cases.

I normally record in 16 bit. Is there really that much to be gained in recording / sensitivity in 32-bit in the case of Band 2?

Hi, this isn't a complaint but I'm wondering why 1 minute captured at 24MHz in SDR-Console is over 11GB while the ELAD SW2 GUI is 8GB. I see the option to capture at 16 bit but of course want the DX sensitivity of 32 bit.

SW2 writes with 24 bits, it seems.
I remember the agony when I tried to write from the QS1R receiver to HDSDR with a bit depth less than 32flt - all in vain and the files were huge! Setting the bit depth to less than 32flt led to damage to the recording files (there was an "overload"). And loading 32flt files into SDRDataFileAnalyser led to sad results (. Write in 16 bits, and you will be happy.
