Is it possible to transfer my SDR definition files from my old PC (running Ver 3.0.26) to the new Ham PC (running ver 3.1) My actual SDR is remotely located 8 miles away and still works fine via the old PC but the new PC with 3.1 does not have the Definition files created for my remote SDR.
or is there an easier way to transfer SDRC entirely from 1 PC to another?

GM Simon.. you can tell I am not very good at this . I dont know which files contain the definitions for my Remote SDR that I need to copy from the old pc to the new pc. The SDR is an SDRPlay RSPdx but I dont know the name of the Definition file to look for. I guess I don't know what to look for or where the folder is that contains the definitions.

Depending on how exotic his front end devices may be it's not all THAT difficult to move from machine to machine. The hard part is that each of his front ends (samplers) must be installed on its own. For example Zadig must be used for rtlsdr dongles and not used for AirSpy dongles. (You simply plug in the latter and it establishes the correct connections.) Then install SDR Radio.

On the old machine run SDRConsole but don't start anything. Select the tools menus. Then click the "Tools->Registry" selection (accept the UAC request) and click the "tools->files->user folders" selection. Then exit SDRC. You will have the Registry editor and a file with some ".sqlite" and ".xml" files in it.

In the registry editor you have a tree view on the left with bunches of entries showing on the right. Track up the tree view two levels to the "SDR-Radio.com (V3)" level and highlight that tree node selection. Right click on that selection and select "Export". That will bring up a requester asking you where to put it. Give it a name such as "SDRC old.reg" and click save. Then exit regedit.

In the file folder click the little up arrow three times. You should end up in a folder name ending in "AppData\Roaming" with a  folder named "SDR-Radio.com (V3)". Click conrol-C to copy the folder. Go to where you saved the "SDRC old.reg" and press control-V/ When the copy finishes drag out a dongle and copy both the "SDR-Radio.com (V3)" folder you copied and the .reg file you created over to the dongle.

You are now done with the old machine. Proceed to the new machine and move the dongle over to the new machine.

On the new machine run SDRConsole but do not start any radios, since nothing is setup inside SDRC yet. Select the tools menus. Then click the "Tools->Registry" selection (accept the UAC request) and click the "tools->files->user folders" selection. Then exit SDRC. You will have the Registry editor and a file with some ".sqlite" and ".xml" files in it. Now we are set to preserve the as installed settings for SDR-Radio.com (V3).

In the registry editor you have a tree view on the left with bunches of entries showing on the right. Track up the tree view two levels to the "SDR-Radio.com (V3)" level and highlight that tree node selection. Right click on that name and select rename. Append " Old" to the name. Close the registry editor.

 In the file folder click the little up arrow three times. You should end up in a folder name ending in "AppData\Roaming" with a  folder named "SDR-Radio.com (V3)". Click on that folder name, right click, select "Rename". Append " Old" to the "SDR-Radio.com (V3)" name. Leave the folder open so you can copy into it.

The new machine is now prepped to accept setup data from the old machine.

Open a second file folder showing the dongle where you placed the folder and reg file. Copy the dongle's "SDR-Radio.com (V3)" folder into the file location you left open above.  Then double click on the ".reg" file on the dongle and accept the requester(s) that come up.

You are done with it all.

Now run SDRConsole. It should be a whole lot like the version you left.

That seems like a lot to do. But it's really quick for somebody used to doing this sort of thing.

This could be scripted except that renaming registry entries from a script appears to be impossible (insert appropriate censorable content here.).

I wonder if I could tweak up a little (f)utility to do the job. Probably yes but probably not soon enough to be convenient for you.
