Hot!
Well,
Getting quite hot here – had to increase the speed of the fans on the main development PC, don’t like the CPU going over 40C when running at 100% CPU.
What do you do in the western USA / Vancouver when it’s so hot?

When it approaches 40c (102f) here in New Jersey, YSA, it is typical the radio room even with central air conditioning can get close to 27c (80c). My PC cpu fan or case fans do not increase but GPU fans on the Nvidia 2080 Super will run faster when under higher GPU load. Also the RF amp fans will run faster as amp temperature ramps up quicker as intake air is warmer.

I just built an Intel I9 11900 system and am using the Noctura U12 cpu cooler with a 120mm fan in front of heat sink. 2 inches behind the heat sink is a 120 mm case fan exhausting the heat. Normal radio room temperature is around 22c (72f). Dave wo2x On Jul 13, 2021, at 11:19 AM, Bob Martin <snivvy@...> wrote:

Ah,
We don’t use air conditioning as a rule. I took the PC into the garage, blew out an accumulation of dust on the water cooling radiator, seems that was the problem.

If only there was a way to harvest the heat from my CPU’s to keep my coffee warm…
But I’d settle for dissipating the heat into my central heating system.
Tom G6PZZ currently three months without alcohol, I’m certainly overheating! Back home in a couple of weeks I hope!

My bullet points, all from experience:
As a temperate climate dweller born and bred who also has lived in the US Southwest, I will add that these are the basics. They also apply to pets, so keeping them cool is vital too. My dog doesn't like water that much, and really didn't like being wetted down, but she came around as she cooled down. During that heat bubble here (I'm between Vancouver and Seattle) outside the home we reached 98F, with a heat index of 105F. It was a new record for as long as records have been kept here, and it was cooking. Very much like living in Arizona, but with more humidity - which makes it worse actually. Take it easy, and overdue NOTHING. Brendan WA7HL |

Yes,
As I found out to my cost a few weeks ago, we need fluids when it’s hot otherwise you get gout ☹ . Doc said it was lack of fluid, not an over-indulgence in alcohol.
