my SDRPlay RSP1a is doing something weird on 6 meters
K4TK <k4tk@...>
On ALL other bands, my SDRPlay RSP1a works PERFECTLY. But on 6 meters, I just noticed, everything on the panadapter (using HDSDR for software to view the panadapter) is flipped. IE, when sitting on 50.125, the panadapter shows all the USB signals that are ABOVE 50.125, BELOW 50.125. My radio (Yaesu FTDX 101D) shows everything correctly on its panadapter. So for instance, something that is actually on 50.135 Mhz.....and shows up as such on the radio panadapter, is showing up on HDSDR (using my SDRPlay RSP1a from a 9Mhz IF output of the 101D radio) at 50.115 Mhz. If i click on 50.115 on the panadapter/HDSDR software, of course....nothing is there....because the signal is really on 50.135. It's maddening. And it ONLY is occurring on 6 meters. Again, it works perfectly on ALL other bands.....160-10 meters. It's just 6 meters that is "backwards".
What could this be? Some setting? A question I probably should ask on a Forum for HDSDR software perhaps? K4TK |

Does this happen on SDR Console as well? There is a setting to flip the i/q input on SDR vConsole... ( "invert spectrum" on the SDR definitions ) it is a very long time since I used HDSDR so I don't know if threre is a setting to flip the i/q on that. Agree it seems really wierd that it only happens on 6m.. it may be the way the radio mixes and converts 6m signals but I'm guessing..... Jim.

I'm not sure about SDRC but HDSDR has a setting to Mirror RF spectrum for Tune >= under the RF front-end menu. 73 Alan G4ZFQ |

And also leave the other setting I have, "mirror Rf spectrum in General", also set?Tim, I'm not sure, try it. The point must be around 50,000000Hz. seems to indicate that it will swap above that. But if it works theother way just change them both. 73 Alan G4ZFQ |

K4TK <k4tk@...>
So wouldn't you know...the band is dead now. But I'll try this setting. i have BOTH the "Mirror RF Spectrum in General" and now also....the "Mirror RF Spectrum for Tune >= 50,000 Khz" set now. So far, all the other bands (160-10 meters) still work properly with both these set. I'll just have to wait for 6 to open again and see if this fixes 6.

If nothing between 39.7 MHz and 50 MHz interests you that will work. Otherwise check the programming manual to find out what really goes on with it.

I've gotten pretty good at "extrapolating" where to really click.....you know....if it shows on 50,110......and I'm sitting on 50.125, I know I really need to click on the external panadapter on 50.140 (it showed 15 khz below me, but that means it's really 15khz ABOVE me....so 50.110....if on 50.125....is really 50.140!). But sure would be nice to get it working. I sent email to Omnirig rig software author. No joy there. I've also posted this on HDSDR IO group....no joy there so far........... -- -- 73, K4TK/Tim Titus, AL |

in hdsdr is a setting that the signal should be "inverted" over a
given tuned frequency here in the example i set that to "above 30megs" but you maybe
have to set that to 50mhz .... is your sdr connected to antenna??? or to an if out from the rig?? what additional offset (global for the rig when connected to if out or depending on mode an additiona offset) .. has to be set depending on your complete setup ... means ... if the sdr is on if or in parallel to antenna ... if the rig adds another 700hz shift in cw (or 2.1 kc in rtty mode) etc etc you wrote that above 50megs all is inverted ... hmmm ....the sdrplay is a vhf/uhf sdr with a "downmixer" to
receive the sw area ... with a 50mhz xtal?? (rtl dongle with an
ham it up converter in a box) ... that would explain the results
you describe i do not own an sdrplay but i used hdsdr now for several years with different other sdr setups ...... maybe you have to set the "invert" on TWO places ... in the radio settings (front end settings for receive ... global
iq invert) ... PLUS in the frequency settings (see picture) ...
frequency dependant invert with a bit of try and error you sure can find a setting that works ABOVE AND BELOW 50 Mhz :-) greetz sigi dg9bfc

Let's break it down: "Select radio->Definitions" and the "Invert Spectrum" Go to the "Select radio" icon in the title bar or to the "Select Radio" icon in the "Home" ribbon bar. Click on it. That brings up a dialog. On that dialog select "Definitions". That brings up another dialog. Select the definition you want to alter alter. Then clock "Invert spectrum" lower left and click on it ONCE. That should invert it's state and cause the spectrum to invert. That will, alas, also affect your use above if you often change from above to below 50 MHz. So you will have to get used to doing this fairly often. {^_^} On 20200416 10:27:59, K4TK wrote:

Because I use SDRPlay RSP1A with HDSDR as the application that shows the signals. I posted the same thing on the HDSDR board and on the FTDX 101D board.

It's as if we're talking apples and oranges here. I'm using SDRPlay RSP1A from the IF 9 Mhz output of a Yaesu FTDX 101D as the input for HDSDR as a Panadapter/Bandscope to show the output of the FTDX 101D on a screen. The ONLY config I have in my SDRPlay RSP1a is this screen. There are NONE of the things you list above....NONE................ This is a panadapter setup for an FTDX 101D using SDRPlay RSP1A and HDSDR and Omnirig.

Tim you are on the SDR Console email reflector site. If you have a
HDSDR issue you need to find that email reflector group.
