SDR Console with SDRPlay

Andy k3wyc

I'm an SDRPlay RSP as a panadapter for my TS-590S.  I have been using HDSDR but have just installed the new release of SDR Console (v2.3 build 2274).

I have been able to display signals and to synchronize tuning with the TS-590S.  However, there are some settings I have not been able to understand yet.

SDRPlay allows up to 8 MHz bandwidth but SDR Console only allows a maximum span of 250 kHz if selected from the Span menu. If a predefined band is selected e,g, 21.000 - 21.450 then the frequency scale has the specified span but the signal bandwidth is limited to a much lower value (250kHz?).  Is there a setting I have missed?

I always see a signal spike in the center of the display.  In HDSDR I could eliminate this but I have found no way to eliminate it in SDR Console.  Can someone please point me to the appropriate menu selection or help documentation?

Thanks and 73,
Andy k3wyc

The maximum span is set by the sample rate you choose when you select the receiver to use. When you start sdr console it will give you a list of receivers. On that panel is also a bandwidth (sample rate) selection. This determines the max span. I do not own your receiver so I do not know what sample rates are available in this menu for your receiver.

Andy,
I don't think you can remove that center spile. i have the same trouble with my Airspy and B200

Mine disappears after 10-20 seconds or so as the software automatically removes it….

I have an odd idea... pending a better one from this crowd. And I proffer no guarantees it will work, but here goes...

I BELIEVE... I think.... perhaps... Larry, N8LP, who makes the LP-Pan2 panadapter device, has wrestled with this sort of thing with one or more software programs and his device. My suggestion, is to read what he does to solve the problem with his product and various software applications, and determine whether the process can be used with SDR Console. I do not expect that all settings and procedures will transfer and be equally applicable, but maybe you can identify a process that has an appropriate parallel in SDR Console, and proceed accordingly. Hopefully there is some useful parallel that works with your device and this software.

i wish I could be of more specific assistance - I solved the problem by purchasing a different SDR device . . . I doubt you are willing to jump ship and switch horses midstream at this point... (how is THAT for mixing metaphors?) ;-)
