Technology Preview Console - won't start due to mfc100u.dll error

Stephen Cannon <sugar_bears_home@...>

I received an error that it could not find MFC100u.dll - (it was not installed in my C:\windows\system32\ file). Anyway after jumping through some hoops I found this page: http://www.openguru.com/2011/12/how-to-fix-mfc100udll-missing-in.html and downloaded the:
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/confirmation.aspx?id=13523 then I ran it and after clicking on SDR.com console the console started working. I noted on the preview installation (detailed view) that there was a comment about the MFC100u.dll so I am guessing others may have had this problem also.

Hope this problem and solution are helpful to others.

Thank you for this, Steve. I also ran into this issue and was not sure what to do. I will follow your links and hope it will do the trick. You are a Santa whether or not you wish to be! ;)

I uninstalled and reinstalled the preview three times on the Win 7 machine. During the first installation I accepted the offer to install the C++ Redistributable library. It was installed. During the 2nd & 3rd installation of the offer to install the Redistributable library was not offered. After each installation I got the same pop-up error message and the console did not start

SDRConsole.exe - Bad Image

C:\Windows\system32\MSVCR100.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains and error. Try installing the program again using the original media or contact your system administratir or the software vendor for support

How do I uninstall the Redistributable library? Or do I simple download from MS vcredist_x86.exe and reinstall it?

I downloaded vcredist_x86.exe and selected the repair to original state. I am still getting “C:\Windows\system32\MSVCR100.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains and error” on the Win 7 machine. The console works fine on an XP machine.

I've got an already old HP Mini210, with 2Gb of RAM. I replaced the disk drive with an SSD last year.

It is not powerful enough to listen to Broadcast FM stations with V2, but V2 works perfect with my little Funcube Dongle Pro (non Plus) receiving all other narrower modes.

Next. SDR-Radio for smartphone?

Also the properties of MSVC100.dll are as follows:

size on disk: 812 KB (831,488 bytes)
created: ‎Thursday, ‎March ‎18, ‎2010, ‏‎9:36:02 AM
modified: Sunday, ‎January ‎01, ‎2012, ‏‎11:54:36 AM

Is this the right version?

However, I see a message in the lower part of the GENERAL panel I see the message “This file came from another computer and might be blocked to protect this computer.” I have never seen this message when I have looked at the properties of *.dll files before. Could this be part of the problem? Show I unblock it with the UNBLOCK option in the properties panel?

OK I was really just wanting to double check it was 32 bit and up to date.
I assume the download for XP was also compatible with Win7, or did you get a version for that PC from the web direct?

Feeling brave paste this into a command prompt

systeminfo | findstr /B /C:"OS Name" /C:"OS Version" /C:"System Type" /C:"Total Physical Memory"

Should return something like
OS Name: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional
OS Version: 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
System Type: x64-based PC
Total Physical Memory: 3,996 MB

later---
I'd get one from the net direct, use internet exploder and it should check the version.

Cheers

Subject: Re: [sdr-radio-com] Technology Preview Console - won't start due to mfc100u.dll error

I downloaded vcredist_x86.exe and selected the repair to original state. I am still getting “C:\Windows\system32\MSVCR100.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains and error” on the Win 7 machine. The console works fine on an XP machine.

Any other suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Or do I simple download from MS vcredist_x86.exe and reinstall it?

tnx

Cheers

I have downloaded and installed

and

Neither one solved the problem. However, as I noted in a previous posting when I look at the properties for MSVCR100.dll I see in the GENERAL panel in the security section that says “This file came from another computer and might be blocked to protect this computer.”

Could this be part of the problem? Should I unblock it with the UNBLOCK option in the properties panel? Or should I unblock it and reinstall the library?
