Its an option, but not really suitable from a 1940's AM valve transmitter. It would be more practical to take the PC speaker lines through one of the transmit relay contacts in the valve transmitter,

That's not what is being asked for, I believe. They seem to be talking about muting audio during periods they are transmitting. That is there. But I believe it turns off the receiver rather than mutes
