Hi,

Can’t really help if a 3rd-party prog doesn’t play my files, sorry.

Thanks for the reply Simon, sorry I should have been clearer in my post, I'm using the file player from Vasili which does support RF64. I also use his baseband recorder plugin and the 40GB files it generates work well in Console both playback and analyser.

The latest RDS decoder in Console is superb, better than RDS Spy and the MPX output which was already good!

Hi,

Not using OpenGL, using Direct2D/3D for the 3D waterfall. Direct3D 12 is the most efficient way to program but requires more low-level work.

I do not know much Direct2D/3D, but will you be using plain old software rendering with OpenGL?

Or some fancy hardware rendering with some modern API (like Vulkan)? Maybe Direct3D does this under the hood?

I have a treadmill in an outbuilding. It is a wide band jammer -  par excellence.

On inspection there are absolutely no EMI suppression components built in.

Paul,

SDR# does not support RF64, that's the problem.

I appreciate this is probably seen as OT for Console but if ya don't ask....

I've just upgraded some of my SDRs to add another Airspy R2 and Elad S3.
Console has been working well on HF and Low VHF but for FMDX I'd really like to continue using Sharp to playback the S3 files. I'm very familiar with it and it has the ability to almost instantly review the last few minutes of reception both of which are vital during an Es opening at VHF.

The problem is when I try to play Console recorded files over 2GB in Sharp I get an error message that reads 'Invalid file format. File length and samples counter not equals'

The files have been recorded as 16 bit WAV RF64 format so should be compatible? Similar format SDR Sharp recorded files work perfectly in Console. I can see that the 2GB and smaller files are 'wav' format which presumably accounts for the different result?

Would appreciate any suggestions on how to get round this or is it a non starter?

Yes,

A very good example. It'll be interesting to see it running live, will be sometime in May. Not so much use with Audio FFT but nice with IQ/Signal FFT.

Direct3D is a massive, massive beast compared to Direct2D.

Re: 3D Demo

What it gives you in extra dimensions it takes away in precision of presentation. So you hve a peak on the 3D+C presentation that you want to click on to tune the receiver to it. Some SW mechanism must relate your click to which peak on a display wandering off into the distance. In a dense signal environment the DWIM aspect of interpreting this click by the user would be tantamount to a Scientific Wild Ass Guess, SWAG.

It might help you discover something is present. Then you'd switch to 2D C presentation to pick the frequency you want.

I see it as a pretty gewgaw with little practical use. 2D+C is handy to show frequency, time, and (rough) intensity with an easy 2D positioning on a 2D display to hit the frequency you want. Trying to show 4D on a 2D display and hit a 4D position is SWAG city.

I have to agree with Ken. With the standard waterfall the brightness (or color) shows strength, left to right shows frequency and vertical shows time. I don't see what more comes from the 3D display. Perhaps seeing it in use would make more sense to me. I look forward to giving it a try!

You might want to look at Task Manager as it'll show the overall CPU usage; however, something seems to be awry with your PC setup. I've never had any issues with SDR Console and VAC, unless I am doing something like compiling or doing database work while using my SDR. But I also have an 8-year-old PC, so it's not the peppiest.

the CPU "must" be his issue. I touched bases with Tom on the local repeater a while ago and he said that the AP-enable mysteriously showed up later on.
