Hi Simon,
Attached a screen shot. Modes change ok and audio out ok, but no freq change ability and no warerfall display. This a winrad generated IQ recording. Hope you can work your magic on the problem....! Re: waterfall speed in remote does not work ?

Hi,
In remote you'll usually be limited by the remote server settings, if the remote owner restricts the FFT size due to internet bandwidth then that's it I'm afraid.
Now for a walk with the houndettes.

Re: Audio latency compensation
Simon HB9DRV <simon@...>
Hi,
417 (later today) will have the Pause button - just tested this & it appears to work.
As for sync. - I will attack latency after my holiday, quite a few tricks I can perform but for now I want to leave some stable code which will soon become release 1.1. The aim is to have the best SDR hardware (RFspace) and software (moi) combination so you *will* see a lot of improvements in the future.
I know what Pieter is up to, I even know when he's out drinking beer & eating Pizza with his buddies :)

Audio latency compensation
Paul
Hi Simon,
Thanks for the announced pause-button!!! (some programmers need years to accomplish this ;-) There's one thing that keeps puzzling me since the earlier versions: synchronisation of sound/visual information. I often find myself using audio queue values of 30+ to have a steady audio stream. The S-meter however keeps in sync with the waterfall spectrum and looses relation to the actual audio. Would it be possible to compensate for this latency delay? I.o.w. buffer the waterfall/spectrum/s-meter response so that all visual information of the GUI remains in sync with the audio? 73! I've just taken a quick look at the code, adding a Pause would be simple so I'll add this later today and make 417 available for your delight and delectation.

Re: Pause when playing IQ data file?
Simon HB9DRV <simon@...>
Hi,
Pause - sure, I don't see why not (adds Pause to To-Do list along with dog-walking and a beer this afternoon).
Also I can see it would be nice to have an 'Extract' option where you can extract say 1 minute from a many-hour IQ file.
As for the colours - in the Waterfall part just uncheck 'Auto' and the colours are then scaled using the Spectrum scope range, so try the various spectrum scope options. I went through this with Pieter @ RFspace as he was nagging me, in the end he was happy. Any suggestions for improving the user-definable (i.e. non-Auto) range then just mail them here.

Mark \(G4PCS\) <g4pcs@...>
Hi Simon,
looking better and better, thanks! Could we have a Pause button available when playing back IQ data files please? Apologies if I just can't see it for looking :) I still can't work out how to turn off the waterfall "Automatic colour scaling" and then be able to manually set the scaling - I've only tried to do this when playing back data files - perhaps it's different when watching live? This is the last "biggie" for me - the way the automatic mode works makes the waterfall really messy for me :p There seems to be a lot of interaction between the Spectrum Scope range settings and the waterfall colour scaling too - but not in a way that I understand :) 73, Mark G4PCS/EI??? |

Also just try double-clicking the main title bar (the top of the program). This should maximise / restore the window position.

Don't know if this is the issue for you, Don, but I have found that the
default when I load the program leaves the window quite far up so I can't grab
and drag it. I usually have to click and drag just the top frame of the window
down enough so that I can then grab the corner. In my system that takes a
little care as well since the cursor position is very 'tight' to get the
correct position to grab and re-size... In my case it does work OK.

Re: zoom option
Simon HB9DRV <simon@...>
The zoom function when ON keeps the signals with the same colour schema as the waterfall has. Yes
On weak signals enlarging the viewing window means to almost loose the viewable part of the signal, making difficult to view\tune the weak one. I'm not sure what you mean :(
There should be in the zoom option another Contrast or Brightness slider or step to increase\reduce the visibility of the signals I possibly agree. Let me get 1.1 available then I will attack this with Pieter.

The program still crashes on calling DD. Anyway the night-sky style in the Spectrum is SUPER. Have already used the gradient color in the AFSpectrum to have more precise indication of the filter set. Mouse-Click on the blue bar menu\qrg\clock still moves the tuning after having changed the spectrum width. An option to keep the tuned qrg in the window center on whatever the spectrum width is would be fine. TUNE button in the right mouse directly in the spectrum\waterfall is a must. A button to hide the whole upper qrg\buttons\smeter part is quasi a must for the IF_only users like me. ZOOM option, will explain in the next message. 73 Phil@IC8POF
