Build 417 Report and few questions

nir_4x6fk

Hi Simon,
Applause also form me :)

Few thins:

1. In the NAVIGATE option. it is possible to scroll the freq by the arrow keys, that changes the frq. auto., BUT in the MEMORY option
it's not happen.

2. The MEMORY option not shows the correct freq. just the band... 10Mhz 14Mhz... Etc..

3. Do you plane in the future to allow the option to IMPORT and EXPORT to the MEMORY ?

4. A. IN the BC. Database, the Mode should change to AM.
B. It is not possible to scroll the database with the arrow keys, and to let the freq.changed auto. (Like in the NAVIGATE).

5. Do you plan to support the UDFX ?? :)

6. Do an SSTV \ FAX will be available?

So many questions........ ): sorry, :) Please answer in your free time.

Best regards

Hi,

DSP AGC isn't always the same as that in a HF radio. I'll look at the whole AGC issue in version 1.2.

G'day Simon

b417 - very good stuff ! Applause...

Questions :

1. up till now, for quite a few beta's, I've noticed the GreyLine map not updating in Polar view - hasn't been too much of a hassle, because looking at the map in the options panel, it has been updating - but in b417, it doesn't !! so now I only have an updated Rectangular map :(

2. looking at the AF Spectrum, I note that switching AGC off brings the noise floor up - my expectation is that the level in the passband would go down - am I misunderstanding something ? Can we have a simple gain control when AGC is off ?

No crashes or problems otherwise - can't wait for that version with the notch filter
( hint hint )

Cheers from DownUnder

Pete

NOTE :
1) the crash happens only by connected console to the server
2) have tried to replicate but the crash has not happened on 40 and 80 as before only on 30mt.

Hi Simon
I have sorted it out I hope I now have SDR.Consul and HRD talking and tracking along with Mixw all in synch so just need to add the TS-50s to another HRD and synch and all should be tracking from a mouse click
you are 2 steps ahead of me ????
this will keep me happy till you get full support on SDR.consul without running HRD but for now all I hope will work fine
thanks Ian

I already have a Elad Switch box for protection of SDR-IQ on TX just need software in place ??? any info likely timescale if possible for either of above

GA Simon, nothing to be afraid, but just another option to get used to.
I am trying right now the maximium bandwidth of 4096 uncompressed FFT that for LAN use should be an optimum solution.

NOTE: there is a big jump in WF flow increasing the WF-speed from 22/24 to the next mouse wheel click at 45/48 l/s.
It is quite impossible to get a value of 30/34.

Does it is possible to change the waterfal speed in remote ?
I am trying but have no success, even changing the rate values.
Can you explain again pse ?

In local mode the WF speed is very usefull.

Hi,

Obvious (I think) that the file isn't being decoded properly. Please
do two things,

1) Display the waterfall as well as the scope by double-clicking on
the title bar where you see 'Play IQ DataFile'.
2) Post the logfile.

Re: Pause when playing IQ data file?

Mark \(G4PCS\) <g4pcs@...>

Hi Simon,

thanks for the positive responses :)

One change I feel would improve the current functionality would be to disassociate the Spectrum Scope settings from the Waterfall completely - I can understand the granularity of the Spectrum Scope settings (i.e. in 10's of dB), given the way the scope's scale works, but IMHO that's too coarse for the (analogue) waterfall. As it stands, it's very difficult to get a good visual response manually, and "auto" makes a real mess of the waterfall when it contains some dynamic signals (as opposed to the fairly stable spectrum of a broadcast band?).

As in a previous post, a "one shot" auto-scale would be great too - i.e. (with the waterfall running) press a "scale" button that would use the *current* data to give a reasonable scale, and then leave it at that. I guess that would only work well if the settings were separate, as described above? There's a similar function within Spectravue.

Cheers (and beers!), Mark G4PCS/EI-something

Hi,

Pause - sure, I don't see why not (adds Pause to To-Do list along with dog-walking and a beer this afternoon).

Also I can see it would be nice to have an 'Extract' option where you can extract say 1 minute from a many-hour IQ file.

As for the colours - in the Waterfall part just uncheck 'Auto' and the colours are then scaled using the Spectrum scope range, so try the various spectrum scope options. I went through this with Pieter @ RFspace as he was nagging me, in the end he was happy. Any suggestions for improving the user-definable (i.e. non-Auto) range then just mail them here.

Hi Simon,

looking better and better, thanks!

Could we have a Pause button available when playing back IQ data files please? Apologies if I just can't see it for looking :)

I still can't work out how to turn off the waterfall "Automatic colour scaling" and then be able to manually set the scaling - I've only tried to do this when playing back data files - perhaps it's different when watching live? This is the last "biggie" for me - the way the automatic mode works makes the waterfall really messy for me :p There seems to be a lot of interaction between the Spectrum Scope range settings and the waterfall colour scaling too - but not in a way that I understand :)
