Hi,

Thanks - here's

to try :)
It'll just give me more diagnostics.
Here's the latest output for you.

Hi,

Thanks - I'll document this and also try to work around the bugs in the 2.8.2.0 driver...

Hi Simon,

I was able to roll back the FTDI driver from 2.8.2.0 to 2.6.0.0 with the following procedure:

Click Start
Right click on computer
Properties
Device manger
Select "Universal serial bus controllers"
Right click "USB serial converter"
Select "Update driver software"
Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Select USB serial converter version 2.6.0.0 (10/22/2009)"
Click Next and follow prompts.

This rolls the driver back and all is well again!

Not the whole waterfall, but to record and play back a RF file of 12-15 MHz to include the most important SW (or ham?) BC bands would certainly be useful, instead of recording now one band at a time. But what is needed from the computer setup to manage that?

I can't see a use for 30 MHz of BW for amateur and SWL. All the signals look like lines on the waterfall. I think I need a 25600x16000 display.

On my system the 'Resolution' slider adjusts the Waterfall speed fine... except for what I mentioned earlier. At the slower resolutions it halts and breaks up the audio. Is that supposed to happen? I have not played with the lengthy I/Q files. Perhaps that is the way you create them.

Phil,

The resolution slider is the speed control. If it is not changing then something is wrong. The resolution changes the FFT size which affects the speed.

In b492 I find the WF little foggy.
Or my tired eyes are vieving UFOs and Fogg instead of clear-band and signals ?

Whaaaat 30Mhz ?
If there would be a software that decodes all the signals over such bandwidth and in our field would keep traces of the countries still needed by me&my-log , yes then I would need such bandwidth.
For now I am using just 10Khc on my IF panoramic_balcony and my monitor is JUST 15".

I am speaking for the COnsole only as the server on the second pc AMD2000

So anyone who wants a SDR radio which squirts out 25 to 30MHz of data with 16 bit resolution (just like the SDR-IQ) please pester Pieter.

With this radio you will be able to monitor (and record) the entire shortwaves although you'll need RAID or SSD to record @ 120 megabytes / second.

Pieter is a Pro I am just End_User_Home_Button_Depresser_Ham.
Yes pleaseeeeeee a speed control is a must.
Even over local LAN.
Not much faster but little more, say 2 to 3 times than now.
Via sliding cursor of course.
I have tried to move the resolution but nothing happens to the speed.

Anyway I would suggest to put the manual contrast sliding-bar directly to the right-mouse of the VFO bar.
Instead or with the window width.
That is because the noise specially on 160mt changes rapidly and going into the RXOptions take always time.

Possible,

The waterfall is running at much higher resolution. I can always attack CPU usage.

GE Simon.
I am experiencing that my "ol"AMD 3200 is getting busiest with b492 Console than with previous versions , say b416.

I am speaking for the COnsole only as the server on the second pc AMD2000 runs always at +- 15% of the CPU.

What do you think?
