Hi,

Obvious (I think) that the file isn't being decoded properly. Please
do two things,

1) Display the waterfall as well as the scope by double-clicking on
the title bar where you see 'Play IQ DataFile'.
2) Post the logfile.

Re: 1 - you're obscuring the waterfall / tuning area with the wavefile
pane - it's not docked, just floating.

Previously you wrote " The server stops for several seconds and so does the
computer." This has to be something unique to your computer which is causing
the problem
Simon,

Thanks for the chat.

The same thing happens with a different soundcard, that seems to have eliminated one thing.
I do have another computer that is virtually a clone of this one, same motherboard/video card etc. I'll set that up sometime and see what happens.

The computer does not absolutely stop. If I am typing nothing appears on the
screen until it gets going again. If I delete an email it "saves" the
command until the server releases the CPU.

2) Image rejection - I can obviously save these settings for each soundcard
but could also save these settings for each soundcard & sample rate
combination, which would you suggest? I will add code to save for each
soundcard/sample rate now.
Image rejection settings need storing for each frequency range. The IQ balance varies with audio frequency and RF frequency. It seems recognised that continuously tuning the Si570 is the better way. Then a fixed IF of say 10KHz eliminates the need to adjust the phase/amplitude settings related to the soundcard.

No other SDR program will accommodate different cards but in that case another set of frequency dependent settings would be needed.
I'm not sure about sample rate, I would think most will stick with just the one they favour. If not then yet another set?

Hi Simon,

have a look there: http://home.ict.nl/~fredkrom/pe0fko/ExtIO_Si570/

Image rejection: It would of course make sense to have it stored for each soundcard and also sample rate. Changing the sample rate could cause phase shift at least.

I'm looking forward to test the ASIO sound ...

Hi Simon,

I have observed two strange things on Softrock / SI570:

(1) When starting SDR-Radio and starting the receiption by pressing Start
button, then there mostly is no control on the SI570, and it is also not
listed in the Options-SoftRock Menu. If SDR-Radio is started again and the
Option-SoftRock menu is called first (before starting the receiption), the
the SI570 device is listed in the options menu. Starting receiption now
manually, all works fine with the SI570 device.
If it is on Autostart, then the SI570 device is controlled correctly when
starting SDR-Radio, but still not shown in the Options-SoftRock Menu. So,
Autostart helps here, but there is something strange with the SI570
initialization ...

(2) This is more serios: I did not manage to store the Image Rejection
values (Options-SoftRock menu. I would expect to have them stored
automaticaly at program shutdown and restored on start again. Did I miss
something?

Another question: Is ASIO support still on your list?

Thank you very much for giving us this outstanding software!

Hi Joe,

Please use build 417: http://www.ham-radio.ch/kits/sdr-radio.com/InternalOnly/SDR-RADIO_v1.1b417.exe

The problem is someone connected but didn't start a radio, in that situation there was no timeout running so they could go away on holiday leaving your server tied up!

Simon,

It appears that since upgrading my remote server to v1.1 build 388 that i have not had any instances of 100% CPU - so good job.

But now, instead of 100% CPU the remote server just doesn't accept anymore inbound connections and appears locked to the last session that had some problem - forever (in my case 4 days before I noticed and restarted). This is better then 100% CPU as that takes out other application.

SInce this is not a crash i have no details to offer you. Just simple encouragement that the client is only as good ad the server and since the server is left unattended it would be good to think of some ways to get the necessary data you need to fix the problem.

thanks,

Joe

Subject: [sdr-radio-com] Remote Server v1.1 build 388

It appears that since upgrading my remote server to v1.1 build 388 that i have not had any instances of 100% CPU - so good job.

I'm on build 416 and still get those 3-5 second freezes, made no difference here.

Remote Server v1.1 build 388

Just simple encouragement that the client is only as good ad the server and since the server is left unattended it would be good to think of some ways to get the necessary data you need to fix the problem.

thanks,

Joe

Hi,

Thanks - I hope to find this bug tomorrow.

Error report just uploaded under SDRRADIO_error_report_100918-225355.rar

NOTE :
1) the crash happens only by connected console to the server
2) have tried to replicate but the crash has not happened on 40 and 80 as before only on 30mt.

Build 417 - some questions about SoftRock Support to Simon

Eckhard

Hi Simon,

I have observed two strange things on Softrock / SI570:

(1) When starting SDR-Radio and starting the receiption by pressing Start button, then there mostly is no control on the SI570, and it is also not listed in the Options-SoftRock Menu. If SDR-Radio is started again and the Option-SoftRock menu is called first (before starting the receiption), the the SI570 device is listed in the options menu. Starting receiption now manually, all works fine with the SI570 device.
If it is on Autostart, then the SI570 device is controlled correctly when starting SDR-Radio, but still not shown in the Options-SoftRock Menu. So, Autostart helps here, but there is something strange with the SI570 initialization ...

(2) This is more serios: I did not manage to store the Image Rejection values (Options-SoftRock menu. I would expect to have them stored automaticaly at program shutdown and restored on start again. Did I miss something?

Another question: Is ASIO support still on your list?

Thank you very much for giving us this outstanding software!

Re: FFT compression

Simon HB9DRV <simon@...>

Hi,

When using the server I have to reduce the bandwidth, so:

1) Audio is compressed using Ogg Vorbis. When you select best you really will not notice any difference. There is small extra latency, does not depend on the compression level.

2) Compressing the FFT to save bandwidth does *not* introduce any latency at all.

If running the server over your local network then you do not need and compression at all.

GD SImon.
A question\curiosity about the FFT, Audio compression and Latency.
How much does the audio compression affects the audio quality?
The Latency is also related to the audio compression\quality?
The FFT also affects the audio or just the viewing part ?

Just to understand\read a little more ... after the moto-gp race.
