HI you mean that _01 etc are successive sub-kits ?
I have just b492 compiled 2dec10 at 11.51.49.
Is it ok ?

GE SImon and All.
As there are many of us HAMs not having necessity of "PROs" features
and still wanting to use low/middle budget PCs, it should be possible to add in the Console Options one more switch: PROs and Non-Pros (or Hobbist).

So if non-pros is selected many of the cpu consuming resources could be kept at minimum requirements and make good use of "ol" PC systems

Re: b492 WaterFall speed lacks ? new possible feature

Certainly makes sence Phil.

Also for light CPU mobile devices and low datarate connections a "stripped" GUI would make a nice option. Or an Ipad App to connect your remote RFSpace SDR :-)

The 10kB/s is already quite magical though, considering the high visual/audio quality Simon has achieved in this limited BW!

I have tried to move the resolution but nothing happens to the speed.

Anyway I would suggest to put the manual contrast sliding-bar directly to the right-mouse of the VFO bar.
Instead or with the window width.
That is because the noise specially on 160mt changes rapidly and going into the RXOptions take always time.

Simon,

Latest build (492 -03) and recent previous builds:

Windows 7 64 Bit Quad core Intel CPU

Signal meter does not work when selected fqy is on LHS of Zero Point, and NO part of the selected bandwidth is touching Zero Point. Works fine when bandwidth is touching or to RHS of Zero Point.

I.E. when select fqy on LHS, signal meter goes to zero and stays there until you select an area touching or to RHS of Zero Point.

On XP using Atom 330 CPU it functions correctly on both LHS and RHS of Zero Point.

Do you know about this ‘feature’?

Do you need any more testing for this ‘feature’?

I have    SoftRock Ensemble RX

SoftRock Ensemble II RX Low Frequency

                SoftRock Version 9 RX 1.8 – 30 MHz

Bingo!!!

I loaded 1.1(RC1)build 492 and it solves the many lockups on my 3 gHz Pentium IV with XP SP3.

As the first test, I went to the big IQ file that was almost impossible to play without tons of lockups, NO MORE LOCKUPS!

Also, I noted you opened up the AM filters and now I hear robust bass along with clean highs.  I listened to WSM Nashville with an annoying hetrodyne 2 kHz below the carrier.  I tried "ECSS Upper"  it took just a couple of seconds to lock on the upper sideband and the beat was gone.  It works.  Then I had a similar issue with AM 740 from Toronto with a strong signal just above the carrier.  "ECSS lower" took a few seconds and it received the signal with out the hetrodyne.

I have to say the AM audio is sounding very good.  It would be good to have the grayed shaded filter area change with the what I was describing above.

The AM sync is is really open, but it is easy to slide the filter bandwidth back.  I am not complaining, but stating you have it wide enough to pickup the the noise on the AM HD signal  No problem,  but just slide the filter back a little and its clean.

Whatever you did, the program is really close to perfection.  Can't wait for the FT-950 interconnection, but for now I tune the SDR to 10.551400 for SSB and 10.5502 on AM and it looks and sounds great on the SDR.

Criticism I have of the Yaesu FT-950 is receive audio is too bassy on SSB and on AM Broadcast highs are restricted from the output of its speaker.  Having the SDR-IQ on the IF the makes it possible to hear exceptional audio.

I think you have approached the mark.

Re: b492 WaterFall speed lacks ?

Hi Pieter and all,

Not the whole waterfall, but to record and play back a RF file of 12-15
MHz to include the most important SW (or ham?) BC bands would certainly
be useful, instead of recording now one band at a time. But what is
needed from the computer setup to manage that?

I can't see a use for 30 MHz of BW for amateur and SWL. All the
signals look like lines on the waterfall. I think I need a 25600x16000
display.

I think it would be fairly straightforward to make the SDR
hardware send a couple of fairly narrow frequency bands
to the PC. Maybe 5 sub-bands with a bandwidth of up to 400
kHz for each one. The FPGA load would become much larger, but
with some compromise in spur suppression maybe it would be
possible? I can imagine that a recording with the 5 most
important ham bands (or BC bands) could be very interesting....
