Simon,

Since I removed 417 that had been working for months, 472, 417, and 492 all go to 100% CPU during the splash screen. Other similar vintage computers work fine with 417, 472, and 492.

I suspect something went wrong with the removal of 417, but what? Did something get left behind? Is there anything that I might have missed? Suggestions?

I have tried the following:

- removed SDR-Radio
- removed SpectraVue
- deleted the directory with the xml files
- tried both with and without the SDR-IQ connected
- removed the anti-virus software
- installed all the latest MS patches

The only thing I have not done is wipe the HDD clean and reload from scratch.

I had been running SDR-radio build 417 and the SDR-IQ for over a month on my
laptop with great results. I had also used it with remote servers. It was
working great.

I uninstalled SDR-radio build 417 and installed build 472. After starting
SDR-radio the main screen and the splash screen appear and the CPU usage
goes to 100%. The splash screen does not go away and the only way to stop it
is with a kill from the task manager. I tried deleting all the XML files
with no success. I even removed build 472 and reinstalled build 417. Build
417 then exhibited the same 100% CPU usage and hang.

How can I fix this problem? What caused SDR-radio to suddenly stop working
correctly on this laptop? I have a similar desktop where I did the exact
same thing and build 472 works great.

BTW - pics of radios using the console, not pics of users!

When a new frequency is added to the XTAL Frequencies tab in SoftRock program options it is not available as a selection on the input source tab until the program is restarted.

This is not a problem for a fixed LO SoftRock as one would only have to restart the problem once. I am using the program with a LazyDog Engineering LD-1A that has a variable LO. In order to calibrate the console I must restart the program every time I change to an LO I have not previously used. I can of course create an entire set of LO selections for every value I might use to avoid this requirement. It would be nice though if the program allowed me to use a newly added frequency without restarting.

Thanks for considering this request. Perhaps it is a small thing that can be changed in a future update.

I had been running SDR-radio build 417 and the SDR-IQ for over a month on my laptop with great results. I had also used it with remote servers. It was working great.

I uninstalled SDR-radio build 417 and installed build 472. After starting SDR-radio the main screen and the splash screen appear and the CPU usage goes to 100%. The splash screen does not go away and the only way to stop it is with a kill from the task manager. I tried deleting all the XML files with no success. I even removed build 472 and reinstalled build 417. Build 417 then exhibited the same 100% CPU usage and hang.

How can I fix this problem? What caused SDR-radio to suddenly stop working correctly on this laptop? I have a similar desktop where I did the exact same thing and build 472 works great.

The laptop and desktop are both running Windows XP SP3 with all Microsoft updates installed. Both use AVG anti-virus and Comodo firewall. The laptop is a 2+ GHz Pentium m and the desktop is a 2+ GHz Pentium IV.

IQ Analysis using 8 CPU cores

RFSPACE

Simon,

It looks like the multicore code is working fine. I am getting almost 4X the speed on the 8 core computer. Here is a plot of WWVB at 60 KHz with 12mHz resolution processed in less than a minute with 16 million point FFT and 99% overlap. This plot clearly shows the 45º phase change at 10 minutes and 15 mintes past the hour. This is a quote from Wikipedia:

" WWVB advances the phase of its carrier wave by 45° at ten minutes past the hour, and returns to normal (a −45° shift) five minutes later as a method of station identification. This phase step is equivalent to "cutting and pasting" 1/8 of a 60 kHz carrier cycle, or approximately 2.08 µs.

This station ID method is common for narrowband high power transmitters in the VLF and LF bands where other intervening factors forbid normal methods of transmitting call letters."

I am also getting 240 MB/s out of the Patriot 240 SSD in the IQ Analysis mode.

Re: Feature request

RFSPACE

Simon,

I finally got winders 7 installed on the 8 core Mac Pro with an SSD that claims 280 MB/s . I am getting 3-4% utilization while I get 20-21% on a 3 GHz dual core running XP and SDR-Radio. I am making a huge recording to test the multicore processing code in the IQ analisys.
