Simon,
Fine. It looks like the Malahit is another victim of the supply chain mess.

Re: Explanation Please - Satellite Passes
Another Question Area 1:
I was under the impression that when one clicks on a satellite push button, that the frequency of the radio would change and SDRC would show that frequency/ I don't see that happening. How do I implement that feature? Then. what is the method to get the radio to start changing frequency (Doppler shift being applied as the satellite goes over my area? Another Question Area 2: See the attached picture. Why doesn't the popup and the main map's footprint cover the same area? Why don't the times match? What I guess I need is a video or more detailed instructions on how the satellite portion of SDRC works. It looks liker there is wonderful capability here. I just need some help getting it figured out. So far I haven't found a video that has been of any help to me. Thanks, George

Hi Mike,
Thanks – I’ll not bother now, I’ll wait until the device is actually available then make a decision. Haven’t looked at the crash dump, maybe tomorrow. Been chasing my tail all day.

Simon,
I contacted Georgiy RX9CIM, the lead developer for the Malahit, via Telegram and asked for an API or documentation. He replied the CAT is fully compatible with the TS590 and the IQ output is like an audio cable, virtual.
If you want to contact him his email address is rx9cim@...
He prefers that you contact him via Telegram or Skype because he does not frequently check his email.
It sounds like the IQ output is similar to the USD IQ output for the IC-7300 which is just the audio baseband.
You haven't heard much from me this summer because I spend most of my time outdoors and operate or listen with various portable sets. When the weather gets cold I listen mostly indoors and like to control the radios with SDRC.
By the way, have you been able to look at the crashes produced when operating with my Afedri LAN-IQ SDR?
As always, I appreciate your work.

Re: Malahit DSP and DSP2
Matthias Bopp
Hi Sigi,
I am afraid I cannot (yet) recommend it. The reason is simply that I have not tested it enough.
I have upgraded the software which extends the frequency range to 2 GHz and also has improved its performance significantly. The free firmware is very limited.
I am planning to use the Malachite mainly as “IF” receiver, e.g. for the 740 MHz IF of my QO-100 setup but also as the IF receiver of my 122 GHz transceiver which is in work.
Once I had more time to test it on air I will give you a fair assessment / possibly a recommendation to buy.
Kind regards
Matthias

There is a pre-order system for the Malahit DSP2 receiver and a waiting list of some 8-10 weeks.
Georgiy RX9CIM seems to be the lead player in the trio of developers

Re: Instances
Bob,
You can run another copy (Instance (A UK word?)) of SDRC side by side. Simply click and drag the application off to the middle of either left or right hand side. Then open another' instance', once it boots up you can click and drag it to the opposite side. Now you have two copies running side by side. Works great for monitoring QRM locally and then probing other servers to see if they hear the same thing. Or if you want to side by side comparison of two antennas at your home, you will need two (preferably) of the same SDR's. As for the 'Identities', I have never dabbled with them... so I can't answer that one! Here's an example of running two instances side by side: Left hand image is the end fed wire (omni directional) and the right hand side is a beam pointing south. Really not much difference in signal strength, so the digital signal is probably east or west of my location. Does that help? 73 Kriss KA1GJU

Hello,
Is there a link to an explanation of what and how to utilize "Instances" ? And, how it ties in with "Identities" ? I realize I don't have a good understanding of. Or, perhaps just a basic explanation of would do it. (should this have been posted in the other Forum ? Never sure which to use) Much thanks, as always, Bob

Hi Simon,
I am not sure whether they are on stock but I know many hams who already bought one.
I have one too and will be happy to beta-test SDR-Console with it.

Re: SDR Console with Airspy R2
This looks OK to me although I use the dBm scale for broadcast rather than S units.
Ribbon Bar, View, Spectrum, Scale.
Also adjust High and Low a bit…

Explanation Please - Satellite Passes
Greetings,
Looking at NOAA 18. The large map information agrees with Orbitron, so two programs agreeing is great!. However the popup map, doesn't agree with the main map. The AOS values are different between the two maps, So I am obviously not understanding the purpose of the popup map. Please clarify. Is there a way to show more passes (say the current plus the next 2) on the main map? Also, I would love to see along side the AOS at the top of the main map, the LOS as well. Then visually one has both important times clearly visible. I presume AOS is calculated based on crossing the horizon and not some set minimum elevation. Thanks very much. Regards, George

Re: Malahit DSP and DSP2
The Malachit supports a very small subset of the Kenwood TS-480 command set. It supports reading the frequency and mode and setting only the frequency. It's severely limited in its scope. On the positive side, it's really quick to add CAT support! Bob W4RLS

Re: Malahit DSP and DSP2
I believe the Malahit supports a subset of the Kenwood CAT protocol through
soapy library. Tuesday Oct 26, Malahiteam released their manuals in English for the original DSP1 and the DSP2: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1WiQdee4R8XBenx-E7PT3dPy4iDjbu0fR From: main@SDR-Radio.groups.io <main@SDR-Radio.groups.io> On Behalf Of N2MS Best regards, Larry WB6BBB

Malahit DSP and DSP2
N2MS
Simon,
I do lots of outdoor listening when the weather cooperates and have stared using portable SDR receivers with the touch screen displays. You support the Afedri LAN-IQ SDR and have started to support the new Arinst SDR Dreamkit V1D. Would you consider supporting the Malahit DSP and DSP2? <https://malahiteam.com/> Thanks, Mike N2MS
