Thanks everyone.

I upgraded to v3.1, updated the Keplerian data.  Here's a screenshot.  I will continue to test the setup on various satellites....I wonder if it could have been the satellite itself?  More info to follow...

Simon,

What software will you use? I thought SDR-Console and Thetis would not run on the Hermes-Lite because they need protocol 2 firmware.

Hi Simon

Why the gemini? Does it not run 2x blf’s?

My homebrew ldmos runs 1500 out but just uses a single blf189xr… at 400w indestructible.. much cheaper.

One can buy a Russian kit or premade if not wanting to spend time making one.( mine is London made.)

Just to let you know..

Only Simon qro operation will be by g0zen in Cornwall..no other Simon qro operations allowed..( he he he)

Is Looe to close Simon?? Should be far enough away?? Job interview at Saltash Monday

Regards other Simon ( non sdrc related.) but keen 80-160 operator..

Look forward to meeting you..

Hi Mark

Probably not pertinent to this particular issue, but why still on 3.0.25 when 3.1.0 been out a while now and Simon has posted quite a few versions since 3.0.25?

I have never personally experienced a crash or other problem when updating SDRC to new versions, so don't see the need to run old version? Updating takes just a couple of minutes.

Another question. Are you sure drift is on your TX? Is there no drift present when simply listening to the signals of others on the same sat with the RSP?

I'd always post a screenshot. Picture paints a thousand words!

Ingolf, you really need to check the Hermes Lite group regularly. Steve KF7O is very good on keeping everyone informed of forthcoming builds and and current build status and therefore when they are likely to become available:

https://groups.google.com/g/hermes-lite

If there was not a problem with parts availability then I think at the moment they would be in almost constant production. As the word keeps going out they have become extremely popular as there really is not anything else comparable on the market at the price.

No,

  • If the TLE data is old this could cause incorrect Doppler
  • Your 705 could be drifting
  • You could be on the wrong satellite!

Don’t be afraid to post a screenshot.

Using v3.0.25.  Satellite tracking has everything I need. I am connected to my IC-705 for linear birds.  705 is the transmitter, SDRPlay is the receiver.

The doppler correction is being properly applied to the IC-705!  Awesome!

Unfortunately, I can still observe my signal drifting on the band….almost like the doppler correction is inadequate or off.

Is anyone else observing this behavior?

I think the "Child instance" button can also be useful if you want to use one radio and look at different bands, assuming your RX has a wide enough bandwidth to span all of the bands. There might be some advantages to doing it this way instead of using the RX pane.

several instances means also several hardware to be used

so if one hardware is in use ... press on select radio and select another hardware and press on start ...

if you want to monitor two (or more) frequencies in the same passband of your sdr then use receiver pane and add as much receivers as you need

if you want to use frequencies that are at a bigger distance (are not in same passband as you sdr) then start ANOTHER radio

say you have an rtl stick or similar (say 2 megs bw) or exactly say you have in minimum two of them and want to monitor the ssb area of 70cm (example 432 to 434) ... start one dongle and set it to your needs (and add as many receivers in that passband as you need) ... now you want to  monitor the repeater area in fm in parallel (say from 438 to 440) ... start ANOTHER radio with the bassband set to 438-440 (and add as many receivers as you have repeaters in your area) ... voila with two sdr you can monitor a dozen frequencies or more

now got it??

I have Airspy Minis for 6m, 4m, 2m and an Airspy R2 for 70cms.
Ideally I would like each window to be able stretch the full width of the monitor/s, which would mean four stacked windows, with perhaps a fifth to allow 23cm in the future

I could certainly use that kind of layout as an SWL. I could use the top three windows as one window displaying all of the MW band, which is my main interest. Then the other windows displaying the short wave bands, 49m, 31m, 25m etc.

No TX for me these days.
