Ben,

Please grab a screenshot of this page and indicate somehow which link you clicked on. For example draw a box around the link using Paint or something. I really want to know exactly where you clicked.

Hi, Simon.

At least for me, the mains Spectravue advantage is the waterfall, almost full screen. Then, if SDR Console waterfall was detachable so that I can adjust to be full screen, would be really interesting.

Thank you.

Yes, but, the version I had on my laptop was more than enough for what I needed. So, why does it self destruct?  I use an FTP program to upload content to my website that I have used for years and years and years. It does what it says on the tin, and does not tell me its out of date.

Some users DONT actually want all these "upgrades", the basic program works for them so having to download a newer, bigger, more stuff to go wrong version does not appeal to them/me. Plus, PC's are stupid, trying to overwrite stuff can lead to silly results on some pc's, plus, the more things a program does, the more memory it uses and more processing speed is needed. So, the pc I used is now stuttering because the later stuff needs more of everything.

I think Simon has a wonderful product. I would just like to keep using it, that's all.

Ben

Re: frustrating

Kriss Kliegle KA1GJU

Ben,
SDR hardware is constantly evolving, new products are arriving continuously!  As such, vast improvements in onboard filtering, bandwidths, internal computing, etc are constantly evolving.
When Simon started out, there were only a handful of SDR's on the market, and VERY crude by today's products. Just look at what hardware is compatible with Simon's efforts TODAY:
Hint... scroll down about 2/3 to see all the devices that can operate on SDRC...
https://www.sdr-radio.com/radios

As more and more users operate SDRC, more bugs in the software appear which Simon hadn't accounted for. Hence he has a "Test Team" to put it through its paces in an attempt to find bugs and crashes. This is just one reason for 'updating' SDRC to the latest version available!

New features are added as well with the updates, i.e. the 3D display was added just recently. Some features started out as requests from users, others come from Simon's constant tweaking of the coding.

So... updates can be VERY IMPORTANT for the users that utilize SDRC at it's maximum operating envelope. For us more casual users, it's not as important... but it's nice to experiment with the new features added. One just has to be careful as to where one download's SDRC. There are many sites out there advertising SDRC downloads, but only ONE is hosted by Simon, note the https (secure) address:

I don’t know which of the many ways you purchase M$ software. As a one-time Microsoft partner, I always had Action Pack. Now that I’m a civilian, I buy Microsoft 365 which allows 5 people to install Office on 5 computers each and the included OneDrive subscription is for 1TB per user. Cost is about £90 pa. That is what MS used to call a family edition and not intended to be used by a business but you must have some personal computers not used by the business wink wink?

But you’ve got developer stuff on top of that. Microsoft licencing is a ballbreaker!!

So,

£59.99 for a year’s Office 365 subscription, gives me 1TB of storage and with any luck greater data transfer limits.

Now to start buying new computer hardware to replace the stuff that’s gently dying…
