Hello Ingolf as I will not be doing any port forwarding, I did not read this in too much detail. You can maybe glean something from this thread.

Hi all.
As I have put an order on this Hermes board I have started to read to learn more about this board. Reading the Hermes User Manual V1.18 I can not find any reference to a port number on the Ethernet interface description. Is there a "standard" port number for the Hermes board? Can you set the port number for the Hermes board? I can not find any info about this in the manual. As I have learned before, I need to know the port number in order to be able to do "Port Forwarding" in my router. Anyone that have any info on this? 73 / Ingolf, SM6FHZ |

Re: Adding my receiver to the server
Thanks Kriss,
All great options, Thought i would mention 2 that I use: If you are ok with the Freq range (10 M or higher), then this is a great (and cheap $4.95 ) option from eBay. It is pin diode based, like most of these 10M-6GHz 0dBm SMA PIN Diode RF Limiter Radio Frequency Limiter Amplitude limiter https://www.ebay.com/itm/312623587269 A more recognizable name, mini-circuits also has a great option (inline SMA): great for HF/VHF not so much UHF Mini-Circuits VLM-33-S+30-3000MHz SMA RF Coaxial Power Limiter 15542 They regularly come up on eBay for $25 or so, but beware there are several listed at much higher prices, so be patient (put a ebay saved search on the model number and eventually it will hit at the right price) 73 de k1jbd bammi |

I used a Herems 16 bit board with one of these to drive a HB 6M LDMOS amplifier for testing Pure Signal. I did a presentation at one of the conferences years ago when Pure Signal first came out. https://www.hobbypcb.com/index.php/products/hf-radio/0-5w-to-5w-drive-kit It would need a bit of filtering, but maybe drive one of the EU104 series amps? Or if you are good at building, a nice LDMOS amp using BLF 188/189 series devices.... W6PQL?? Mike

Re: Tuned freq always auto centers
That issue might only happen while using an external radio such as your Yaesu FT-991A.
This idiosyncrasy does not happen while using an SDR locally or via a server. I've never used SDRC with a transceiver for a larger/better scope and waterfall other than my ANAN 200D, so I can't help other than what I and Tony have noticed. 73 Kriss KA1GJU |

Hello Simon the original case is a Hammond 1455Q1601, which may be found here:
https://www.digikey.nl/en/products/detail/hammond-manufacturing/1455Q1601/1995453
I am sure that we can get someone to make a nice front and back panel, all the mechanical drawings can be found here:
I can’t order from Farnell or RS here without a company account so I tend to use Mouser and digikey. I recently bought a 80mm super quiet PC fan which I intend fitting to the enclosure, it is absolutely inaudible. Of course I will only be using mine with transverters so I only need a bpf for RX and TX and minimal cooling. I made them last night.
I’ll look up the fan model number when I get home this evening.

Also,
I actually have 1 x ANAN 10 and 1 x ANAN 10E which I used for a few years on 80m and 40m. What I don’t like is the lack of good cooling, so I’ll probably take the 10E out of the case, put in storage and replace with this card. I’ll put heatsinks on the chips, mount a gentle 80mm or 100mm fan on the top to keep it cool.
But – a new enclosure would be great.

Re: Looking for a HL2
Conrad, PA5Y
Yes, I agree, TAPR have a breakout board for the multipin connector, but it is tiny and fiddly. I will buy a Hammond extruded box that is deep enough to run some tails for the RF connectors and make a proper interface for the multipin connector.
That is assuming I have any antennas left. Even with the masts tilted it is still scary. Four roof panels have come off the barn. Tomorrow I expect to be helping my neighbour catch chickens 😊
I am looking forward to re-visiting the Hermes.

I have two SMA connectors on an ANAN 10 which have simply split, so I will use a diecast box and ensure there’s no stress on any connector. Also the big connector at the rear is a total PAIN, using a bigger box I can expose the pins of interest.

In the original hammond box the connectors are supported by the back panel nuts, I never had any issues with this. There again I did not plug and unplug very often. Maybe you are right, might be better to use a bigger enclosure.

The SMA connectors soldered to the PCB are a weak link, so I’ll probably mount the unit in a diecast box and use these:

Re: Tuned freq always auto centers
Tony_AD0VC
That auto-center box is for "auto center on zoom". If you hover over that box, the tool-tip text says so.
My SDRC does not do what yours is doing but I am running a test team version. There is a setting to recenter when you tune to a frequency that is not visible but that isn't what you are seeing. I poked around looking for another setting but did not see one.

Re: Adding my receiver to the server

Hello Kriss
Thanks for the information.
I've accumulated several of those type of limiters, some bought some home-brew.
I recently bought an "overdrive switch" from SV1AFN.
This device automatically switches it's RF input to a dummy load, as opposed to passing it straight through, when a preset level is reached.
I had my switching level set to 0dbm as that is the limit stated for the SDRPlay range of receivers.
The limit for the Airspy range of SDRs is +10dbm.
