Re: Problem with Adalm-Pluto SDR's USB #adalmpluto

There is a mega boatload of information about Pluto including getting it working in the first place on the web on Analog Devices' pages. You *MUST* have both USB ports supplying power. It should appear as a disk drive, among other things, when you get the setup right with the drivers installed.

Not familiar with the PLUTO radio but it seems it plug's into a USB  port.

If RTL_test does no work,  then a backup maybe learn how to run WINDOWS MUTT to see if there are I/O errors on the USB port.

I assuming you are plugging your pluto SDR into the computer and have tried various ports.

Get a copy of rtl_test.exe on your computer, and install it some where convenient.

https://osmocom.org/projects/rtl-sdr/wiki/Rtl-sdr  , or just google rtl_test .

My case I created a rtl_test directory on my C drive:

Key [Widnows]r

 cmd {Enter]

 cd C:\rtl_test

rtl_test -d 0    (This will show lost/dropped data between the computer and your  SDR dongle)

If you get a continuous stream of dropped bytes   try [RESTARTING] your computer.

In my case a second had laptop has and issue starting/communicating with the USB ports.  By restarting after first turning the computer on the communication issue resolves it self  with only a few random drops here and there.

I have a solid 5vdc power supply hooked to them (I use the same PS for my RPi 4's with no problems).

I thought maybe the latest firmware was at fault (0.34) but I converted both SDR's to DragonSDR (0.33) and I still have the same problem.

My best guess is the Micro USB connector is failing on both SDR's.  Has anyone else experience this problem?  If so, is it easy to replace the connector?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Siegfrid!
A very simple solution.

Re: 144MHz transverter frequency readout

just tune upwards to 144

if you add an up or downmixer in sdrc and result is "neative" it is not used ... means you still receive on 28 mhz "if" as before

if you tune up in sdrc to 144 (and downmixer - 116mhz gives 28 mhz and no negative result) then the downmixer is used

just try it ... tune up ...

(as a sidenote ... others see similar when using qo100 downmixer setting of 9.75 gig and still have tuned to 739 megs)

Is there any was to adjust the logging interval in the ‘Signal History’ recorder accessible in the ‘View’ panel?  I find it to be a very useful feature to track signal levels.  However, it defaults to a logging interval of 50 milliseconds.  While that’s useful for short-term monitoring of a signal, it results in some large files if you want to do some long-term monitoring, such as looking for sunrise/sunset effects, monitoring of Sudden Ionospheric Disturbances (SIDs), etc.  With a sample interval of 50 ms, a 12-hour log will end up having 864,000 records.  That’s approaching the upper limit for the number of rows an Excel file can handle.  It would be useful to be able to specify the desired sampling interval to cut down on the number of samples logged over a longer time period.

If anyone can point me in the right direction to change the sampling interval, I’d greatly appreciate it.  If it’s not possible with the current version(s) of SDRC, are there enough other people interested in such a feature to justify incorporation of such an option in a future revision of SDRC?

Thanks in advance.  I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi,

At present scheduled recordings only support the entire bandwidth, so start the radio in the definition with the closest possible bandwidth.

SDR Console must be running, it cannot be started to make a recording.

I used the recent days the IQ recorder scheduler with some success the previous days . I used so far only  the instant data recorder from the rec menu which i knew much more than that.as far as i tested i can support only one insta or delayed recording
I wonder if the scheduler today can use shorter bandwidths than the standard as give by the SDR itself
For example I m interested to only record only the 41mb band or the full MW band using my RSP1a without spending unnecessary bandwidth provided by the SDR's settings yielding bigger files  Just two examples Any ideas ?

My other question are already solved from the practice : (DR: data rec )
DR CAN start the program if  SDRC is standby or stopped
but DR is not shown in the status bar even if it is checked

What i don't now: (do you have any answer? )
DR cannot activate SDRC and start recording (that mans SDRC not running )
DR cant start SDRC if system is in hibernation

I still use the old version 3.26

Hope you understand my message adn reply to all my observations above
thank you

Just check the 250ms, all info should be in the help pane. With VAC latency is not a big problem – usually.

Subject: Re: [SDR-Radio] Audio issue on SDR Console

Thank you so much, Simon.  I’ll give that a try.  I have a question regarding the audio buffer size window.  Under the buffer size section on the first row, there are options for ‘Default’, ‘x2’, and ‘x4’.  What exactly is the ‘Default’ setting here?  The reason I ask is that when one click on the blue “Defaults” switch two rows down, the buffer size changes to a  “new” default value of ‘X2’ instead of the other ‘Default’ value.  I’m just trying to understand the difference between the two different default settings.

When I enable the ‘Use 250ms buffer’ option, should I see the audio latency figure in the lower right corner of the Console display also increase to something larger than 250 ms?  If I run the Console with the audio routed directly to the speakers, thus bypassing the VAC, I normally see the audio latency in the lower right corner hovering between 40 and 50 ms.  When I send the audio through the VAC with the 250 ms buffer added, the latency value in the lower right corner only increases to a total of a little over 100 ms, even after the introduction of the 250 ms buffer.

Thanks again for such a wonderful program.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Ken
