Hi,

I can't code 24 x 7 forever!

Hi.
It saddens me to hear that support of Dual Channel SDR's is way down the line.
There has been former threads here discussing this subject over time. I see it is in the "Future" list here:  https://www.sdr-radio.com/Future
I also have a AFE822x SDR-Net (Dual Channel), so there are a few around.
I would guess that there is a larger audience for Dual Channel SDR's than for future multi channel SDR's.

There are many interesting and nice features that could be realized with one of those Dual Channel SDR's.
I made a short write-up on Beam and Notch Steering using a Dual Channel SDR.
I enclose it as an PDF-file (413 kB). I hope it would not be dropped due to limited disk quota :-)

You are not alone

I also have an AFE822x SDR-Net (dual channel) and would be very happy about diversity/phasing support.

Greetings Uwe

Hello Simon, I can add my name to the list of dual Afedri users, for me it is even more esoteric. EME.

Can I also just say how delighted I am with the FDM-S3! An excellent piece of advice from you Simon. It can handle anything that I throw at it so far and it makes a superb band scope with SDRC when I am doing contests. I have one HF input in use for 6m, the other for the transverters and the VHF input for Band II. I will almost certainly get another one. I go to FH next week and I will see if the Elad 2 channel DUO-X project is still alive.

I am off work for 3 weeks from next week and I will be getting my newly acquired FDM-DUO going. I intend using it mainly to drive transverters. I think I am turning into an ELAD fan boy 😊

Hi,

Unlikely. As this is a minority interest and is covered by HDSDR then I'm tempted to leave it for now. Were there a four (or more) channel SDR then I would look at this, but certainly for the rest of 2022 I'm working on other areas of SDR.

Sorry - taking it a bit easier this year...

Simon,

Will there ever be dual channel support for the Afedri SDR's to enable phasing? Or support for the Afedri SDR Network Control Box, that works with HDSDR, to do same?

Thanks Simon for responding. HDSDR is fine and I considered a 2nd program offering support, would be icing on the cake. BTW, I am quite pleased with V3 and like the Scheduler options and G33DDC support very much. Thank You and do take a well deserved break.

The only think I can think of is you're trying to dock it on the matrix window or one of the other windows that can come up. That may not work unless Simon found some magic.

I assume you have read this about positioning panels/windows?

https://www.sdr-radio.com/LayoutPanes

I don't often need to use a Receiver pane as the main waterfall window serves my purpose, but to try and simulate your issue I did enable one RX Pane. Note that when you "left click and drag" the title bar of a pane, not only do you see the large "arrows diamond" cross graphic near the centre of the SDRC window to drop the pane onto in the required arrow position, if you look right at the edges of the screen you will see there are arrows there too. It's sometimes possible to end up with the RX pane all across the bottom of the screen and this can give the impression that it's overlapping the DSP (actually it's not). So either click/drag the DSP title bar to the arrow on to the far left of the screen to make it full height, or click/drag the title bar of the RX window to the bottom of the centre large crosses to place it where I think you want it, i.e. centre bottom.

Anyway, have a read of that section I linked if you did not already. Other than this I'm finding it hard to visualise the exact issue you are having but I find SDRC pane positioning entirely predictable on my setup.

Just to recap, if you left-click (and hold) and drag the title bar of any SDRC pane and place it over one of the large on-screen arrows, then that pane automatically switches to "docked" mode in the required position. If you don't release over one of the big on-screen arrows, then that pane then becomes floating.

Hope it helps?

Max
