So,

Most bugs fixed, minor UI changes. The issue with IF output from FTDX-5000 etc. and IF display is not resolved.

On Friday this will be Preview 6 unless there are loud and unpleasant explosions.

Hi Gaute and Simon,

Now working thanks to your great help.  One of the FM stations I like has hiss on it since it is 25 miles away and only 99 watts.  The signal is in stereo.  Is there a way to kill the stereo and just have it mono?  That will kill the hiss and since it is a talker station, that is more than ok to use mono if available.

Hi again George. Your spectrum for some reason shows 96 to 108 MHz, but info in bottom left corner is 192 kHz BW.
So the "signal" you see in the spectrum is actually the whole selected spectrum BW! That is one BFM channel only. Try "jogging" the zoom slider to spread that out in the spectrum window.
But I guess you want to see the whole BFM band, and as far as I can find out the FDM.S2 can show up to 5 MHz BW.
Go to Home/Radio/Bandwith to select BW "on the fly". If needed "jog" the zoom slider.

Glad it worked out for you with the favourites.

Keep playing :-)

Hello Jim,

There is a lot to say, but this is not the appropriate forum.
I suggest you join this forum:
https://ham.stackexchange.com/

To put your question forward you would have to create an account here:

Presumably you look for a small (in terms of wavelength) antenna
with a small bandwidth and high efficiency. There is a lot
to say on that subject, but this is not the appropriate forum.

Can anyone point me at someone who has a good understanding of earth mat design and who also understands the role played by a water table that is close to the surface?

I've got myself involved in a project that needs to significantly reduce the radius of an earth mat but still have a reasonable radiation efficiency.

Thanks

Hi George.

Favourites:
Tune to the desired frequency.
Select Favourites/Manage/Add
Set a Title; eg. KBND 100.1
Set a Group; eg. BFM
Do not set a Folder.
Click OK.
Repeat this for all your BFM favourites and you will have a row of  "buttons".
Use Organise to change order of buttons if needed.

It is now aso possible to create a 6 Receiver Pane with "Point to Listen" functionality.

BFM frequency step:
Select Program Options (Upper right corner, cogweel).
Select Tuning/Step Sizes
Set BFM to 100kHz (maybe Simon will add a 200kHz setting for this mode?)
Click OK.

You should now be good to go.
Good luck and enjoy.

Hi Bernard,

Thank you for your list of changes. I'll try and simulate the changes when I have a chance. Just removing the MN18 inductor, the resultant input impedance varies from several K-ohm in the HF range to close to 50 ohms in the microwave band.

As you pointed out, the parts are very small and frail. I used a 7X magnification jewelers loop to see the inductor. Even so, the part was not easy to remove.

Re: LimeSDR problems

Allan Isaacs

Hi Bernard

I should try this too! I have the new coilcraft transformer etc. so I don’t really have an excuse.

The wbc8 is a proper transformer so will produce true balanced outputs rather than the questionable balanced outputs at lower frequencies from the balun used in the unmodified Lime.

To check on the improvements just swap over the connector from one L input to the other.

Let us know the modified/unmodified strength of Radio 4 on 198KHz (if you’re an Anglophile.. that is) and, if you can see them, the timing signals on 77.5 and 60KHz.

Hello,

The LimeSDR works fine using HDSDR and an experimental EXTIO dll.
However, I cannot get it to work with SDRconsole. Tried two versions:

1. Latest Preview 6 kit.

2. Version 3 build 696

The problem appears as though the software is stuck in the up convertor
mode. However; there is no up-convertor and the select radio dialog box
is UN-checked for an up-convertor. Tried deleting LimeSDR and add back
in again. Result, no change. No 20 meter reception; but, get very good
20 meter reception using HDSDR with extio. The extio dll needs work,
even a 1hz change will cause the audio to mute and wait for the tune
synthesizer to settle.

Using a low noise very high dynamic range 100 KHz to 54 MHz 15 db
preamp. Acts as a low pass filter to filter FM broadcast band. Amplifier
was custom built by Clifton Labs.

All receive LimeSDR settings are correct.

1. Antenna: LNA L. LimSDR MN18 inductor removed.

2. LNA -24 db

3. TIA -12 db

4. PGA 5 db

Suggestions welcome.

Robert

WHY THE PHASE SHIFT?

Ernest Martey

Experts,

I have two hackrfs receiving the same voice transmission on FSK -1200bps by SDRSHARP.
I expect and plan to see the same modulation signature from the two systems of this same signal.
I did Raw IQ recording with the following parametrs.

Tx Freq - 437 MHz
Rx Freq - 437 MHz
Bandwidth - 10 KHz
Samp - 12.5 MHz , 8bit
Black-Harris filter
Freq_correction -     -2ppm

BUT, I do not see the same phase signature of the signal even though I align the bursts in time.  I expect to see same pattern. What went wrong? What should I do?

See attached plots of same channel each from the two hackrf systems
