Possible bug?

mcayton@...

Simon,

My up/down/left/right arrows stop working (no effect on frequency anymore) if I change any of the settings in the Receive DSP panel (Filter bandwidth, Mode, Squelch, etc.).  However, if I stop then restart the bandscope/waterfall (using the Stop/Start buttons) the up/down/left/right arrows start working again.

It's certainly no show-stopper, just thought I'd mention it.

Here's a screenshot if that's of any value:

David,

A big change in size for the FFT DLL for the CUDA support. There’s no logic to it at all, wouldn’t surprise me were the size to decrease for the next CUDA release.

Thanks, Simon.

The only "logic" I could see in that case would be if loops were unrolled for faster execution, although I thought that today the gains were quite small doing that (and offset by the need to bring more instructions in from memory).

The size of some programs installers continues to surprise me, and it's the need to re-install libraries every time. I must confess to creating a runtime-library install for my own software to keep the .exe files down to 1-2 MB. My biggest installer is about 8.5 MB. I see 250 MB files for a simple iPad "app" and find that obscene, to be honest!

Spectrum reversing

Rudolf Schaffer

Hello,

I've just installed SDR Console:: Jun16,2017 :: Preview and use it
on a 2nd PC as a K3's panadapter with a RSP1, LP-Bridge and TCP Com Bridge.
All is working perfectly, thank you Simon !

"My" only problem, i don't remember how to revert the spectrum !

Can somebody refresh my "old" memory ?

Thank you for your help.

Hi Mike, yes and the 32bit ones don't work, either.

Seems to be a problem on Simon's website.

Actually the Change from CUDA 6.5 to CUDA 8 for 64-bit. Only CUDA 6.5 is supported on 32-bit systems, hence no change there.

Same errors here, none of the 64 bit downloads work i.e. Google,Microsoft or Dropbox?

I have tried with both Chrome and Edge browsers under Windows 10.

Both 32- and 64-bit downloads worked fine here earlier from the Microsoft source around 08:10 UTC.

Still appear OK now (Firefox/Win-10/64).

SDR Console v3 - Favourites

Andrea Bernardo

First, I would like to thank Simon for the great job he is doing with SDR Console v 3
that I use with excellent results, and pleased with my Afedri SDR-Net rev.4.1au

If possible I suggest a small upgrade that may be of interest to many others users.

As regards the management of the memories (Favourites),
it would be useful, in the phase of input of the memory,
can also add a field with a short description of the memory.

Then, this description would be nice to be able to view
positioning itself on the memory, or by an info button or something similar.

I think there can be many informations that an user
might write as a description of a memory,
this information (personal information) could be recalled by "info" button,
in the receive menu,
so do not always present on the screen.

Thank you all for your attention in the hope that this suggestion is possible.

Preview 6: Signal History: PDF on how to use it

Nils Schiffhauer

Hi -

Simon's new public preview of V3 as of June 16th has two more exciting features:

  • “Signal History” takes the signal strength of the given bandwidth each 50 milliseconds, which can be saved in a CSV file. It is also shown in three different speeds on a display.
  • “Receivers’ Pane” shows up to six combos of spectrum/spectrogram of the complete up to 24 parallel demodulators (they additionally can be shown in the Matrix, as in former versions).

“Signal History” offers many applications, to name just three:

  • analyze fading and its structure with an unsurpassed time resolution of 50 ms
  • document fade-in and fade out
  • measure signal-to-noise ratio of signals

As an First Aid, I have written a PDF of 19 pages with 36 instructive Figures. There you find a step-by-step introduction plus numerous example on how to use this valuable tool in practice: https://goo.gl/CY6eAF

Thanks once again, Simon, for your most valuable work: Nils, DK8OK

Agreed, I think I have the answer, maybe a screenshot this evening. My Begali 60th anniversary key arrived today, I’m keen to get back on CW – haven’t had a CW QSO for 34 years!

Subject: [sdr-radio-com] Harder for me to recognize the active receiver in the Matrix

Simon,

Your new V3 look and feel is just drop dead gorgeous, thank you so much.

Not sure if there's any easy fix to my problem, but the way the new motif translates over to the Matrix page has made it more difficult for these tired old eyes to tell at a glance which is the active receiver in the Matrix.

Here's a shot of the old motif in the Matrix.  It s pretty easy to tell which is the active receiver (I know you said we could post pictures in a message but I've never been able to do that successfully, sorry):

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B77dlHbMDWmJaWJkVXlxSnFjZmM

And here's a shot of the new motif.  It's not nearly so easy to tell at a glance anymore which is the active receiver:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B77dlHbMDWmJLUFCOTNMbFk0Um8

Not sure if you even want to address this issue, because the new motif makes for such a beautiful presentation on-screen.  Just wanted to mention that it's not so easy for me to keep track of which receiver is active anymore when I'm navigating in the Matrix.

Best regards,

Mark  KF5VQY
