Hi,

Make sure you have installed all manufacturer’s drivers for the motherboard.

Forgot to mention that loading is fast when playing files back, i.e no USB lead connected.

Thanks for the prompt and kind reply Simon.
Of course, I tried different USB ports (USB 2 & 3), no way

My AV is Eset Nod32, the same I've been using for years.
CPU when loading is 8% max, even less with v3 (a message mentions "does not reply" before it finally loads). Around 20% when running

Yes, I suppose there's something wrong with the computer but what could explain such a slowness with several programs ? W10 is up ta date, the machine is brand new ...

Re: Dramatic slowness when loading v3 (and others)

OK,

Please look at http://www.sdr-radio.com/Support and try the kit on this page http://www.sdr-radio.com/Software/Downloads/November1st,2017 .

If this does *not* fix the problem:

  • Anti-virus?
  • Watch the CPU while it’s loading – is the CPU in use all the time?

Studio1 should not be affected by the Windows bug so I’m thinking it’s something to do with your computer as it’s not just one dodgy program causing problems.

Hi Buddies,

Need help !

Whetever the program (v3, Elad SW2, Studio 1), it takes more than 30" to load with my new PC (50" for SW2 !).

Never experienced such slowness with my previous computers (usually about 10").

My current setup consists in AMD A10-9700 proc (3.5 GHz), 16 Go RAM and SSD. Win10, Home, 64 bits, v 1703.

What could explain this issue and is there a way to fix it ?

Thanks a lot ...

Patrick

Hi,

Glad it’s working again, I urge you to use Windows 10 which has better protection.

Hi Simon,

Almost a year ago, our main machine stopped running V3.

Very sad end for this i7, 32 gB, GTX-950, Win7 Pro workhorse, feeding a bank of three large monitors in the Tactical Operations Center here, and running all our other emcomm sw flawlessly.

In spite of best efforts by you and jdow we did not find a fix.  Tried all the usual tricks, for sure.  Ending surmization was some evil ham app had borked a win dll.

Today, after noting the v.382.33 Nvidia driver discussion elsewhere, I decided to just rip out the whole Nvidia suite and let the driver chips fall where they may after reboot.  Guess that's one definitive way to uncheck the CUDA box... haha!

Short story shorter... we launched V3 and selected the SDRPlay Pro2 and waited for that maddening grayed out screen (with 'size' heading toward 10 gB) after the next mouse click... just like all the other 100 times (yes, JoAnn we are a little insane, here).

But this time there was a different result.

Excuse the too high gain setting and the crappy cellphone photo... tonight we're celebrating a resurrection!

When memories has long title, the 3rd / 4th / 5th memory button will be condensed.

The condensed 3rd and 4th memory button became less responsive. "Edit / Clear / Save" menu can not be displayed.

The 5th condensed memory button became not responsive. Frequency will not be changed after mouse click. "Edit / Clear / Save" menu sometimes functional.

I quickly sold my RSP1 and RSP2, very disappointing on HF, both in readiness for the Airspy HF+, apparently it will be very good and I suspect far better than all other HF capable SDR receivers that are sub US$500 or thereabouts.

Re: Display windows corruption - update November 2017

This is an update to my earlier post below.

Nvidia released on 20171030 a new graphics driver 388.133.

This resolves the issue experienced with version 388.00 20171023

Thanks to all those who responded.

I have tracked it down to the latest Nvidia graphics driver (Version 388.00 20171023)

By switching on the extreme gaming features (this presumably stops the driver from additional rendering or adding “smartness”) I return to normal and expected behaviour.

You have to select this option at driver installation by ticking a box to enable it

The issue has been raised with Nvidia.

I can go back listening to man-made noise across the VHF and UHF again punctuated by noises from some odd satellites.

😊
