Center signal. With no antenna sig it's there and with antenna it's modulated
Kees van Engelen
Hello!
I am enjoying SDRconsole for years now. At the moment using v2 b 2729; Fifi SDR (Softrock based). What I have all the time (now and then) is in the center a signal that also is present with the antenna disconnected (pic 1) , and is modulated when antenna is connected (pic 2). The best bee seen (and also mist annoying) on the higher bands. Does anyone have an idea what it is, or what I can do about it? Any help is very much appreciated. 73 Kees PA3KVE pic 1 Pic 2 |

Re: RTLSDR via Spyserver
Jon,
I can run your RTL Dongle OK, an antenna would be nice – I assume it’s on VHF?

Hi prog
AFAIK I am running the latest version which was downloaded a few days ago. v2.0.1592. If this is incorrect, please let me know and I will change it. Best wishes Jon |

Re: Discone ant for HF/VHF/UHF
A discone is certainly ideal for simplifying one’s aerial setup. Of course it has its drawbacks but it’s really convenient. Mine is a stainless steel Moonraker Royal Discone 2000 and receives the IOW 23cm beacon on my SDR Play at 20 miles or so. I measured its response using a tracking generator/spectrum analyser and it had a weird response of a series of about 50 humps (0 to minus 10dB), with their tops pretty well flat from 1MHz to 500MHz but of course the physical size of the whip section means receive performance below about 30MHz will be very poor and it’s vertically polarised anyway. My FT480 drives it OK on 2m as its flat to within 1 or 2dB from 140 to 146MHz. Allan G3PIY From:

Hi Allan...SDR is what I want to use it for...hope to get rid of the
rats nest of cables/connectors/switches I use with my colinear and vertical to
move between Rx and Tx and the main stn radios and my FCDP+ _._,_._,_

Re: RTLSDR via Spyserver
First thing to do is to upgrade the server to the latest version.

Re: Swskeds-SWBC Shortwave Broadcast Schedules from Dan Ferguson
Jon,
There’s a quite a list of features for 3.1, but first I must get 3.0 stable and released.

It is a shame that Simon has so much on his plate developing v3. This would be an absolutely fantastic feature for SDR Radio and would really compliment and add to an already stunning and powerful bit of software. |

Jon,
If you have a public IP & port please let me have a go, also I can send you a link to a kit to try. I’m sure it was timeouts set in my TCP/IP connection.

I for one as a returning hack would find this most helpful. Here's hoping it can at least be added to an already much too long list! Jon |

Mike <mike.hibbett@...>
In the early '80's I did ATV on 70cms. One night I had a group of neighbors come round asking me to stop..."How did you know it was me?" (I was just a kid at the time) "You rotated your antenna and its pointing down the row of houses". I did a great trade in DIY bandpass filters after that, and they never came back to lynch me.
Moved onto packet radio shortly after :) Mike - G6COQ |

Simon, It seems that you want to grow old 😉.
Hi,
Not in 3.0 – I want to write the server in Nov/Dec so we can test Jan/Feb 20168 and release on March 1st.

Re: Discone ant for HF/VHF/UHF
I’ve tried many antennas to my fleet of SDR-iq’s acting as servers for Console (v1.5), and only one works well on all bands (500khz - 30 MHz), my 120’ end fed wires. Yes, my resonant 40m dipole works well on 40m, but deaf on the bands. Since users operate all over the spectrum (as do I), the best antenna in my opinion is the end fed wire with a 9:1 Unun to coax.
One is at 50’ AGL between two Rohan 25 towers, the other is at 35’AGL and goes from the peak of the house to trees on the property line. Both antenna setups feed two SDR-iq’s via a simple BNC splitter from old computer networking cables. Kriss KA1GJU |

Re: Discone ant for HF/VHF/UHF
A bit late David. It was back in 1967. The next year we’d moved and my XYL was on 80m when the dipole was struck by lightning. Fortunately nothing else of note has happened since. A long wire is fine for SDRs but maybe it would work best if you made yourself a preselector. Along the lines of a 1920s bandpass tuner. Allan G3PIY From:

Yes kiwisdr and utwente overlay the waterfall with station names from
dbase. Not just broadcast schedule but known utility traffic. Its a really nice feature. (but it kind of means you dont even have to LISTEN See Simon .. the more you add the more we ask! On Wed, October 25, 2017 8:21 am, Greg Gilbert wrote: Simon, Regards James Cullen |

Re: RTLSDR via Spyserver
Hi,
I’ve not tried with a RTL Dongle, looking at the code it could be a timing issue my side – I’m not giving it long enough. I’m looking at the various timing constants in the code, I may throw a kit at you.
