Ah,
Interesting. Obviously this should be transparent and part of the driver. I'll take a look later today...

I;m aware of the info at your link but....
(1) USB issues shouldn't affect playback of previously recorded files.
(2) SDR Console worked OK with my Perseus in 2015-2016-early 2017.
Does adding the Perseus definition and having it accepted mean that Console found the Perseus?

Here is a problem that may or may not have a common root. On my Win 10 x64 machine with 1709 uodates -
all ports (USB2 and 3) work with the native Perseus software ver 4.1. I have the signed USB drivers installed, as supplied on the Microtelecom
site.
With the same machine and using either the USB2 or the USB3 ports, SDR Console sees the Perseus when I add it but nothing happens when I start the radio and attempt to listen live. The hourglass just spins forever. The same thing happens when I try to play back a previously
recorded Perseus file.
SDR Console used to run perfectly on this machine, but I had not tried it in perhaps 8 months so don't really know when it broke.

Hello Simon,
A couple of days ago I verified that the dll works fine on all USB3 ports of my i7 computer under 64 bit Win 10. That was with a system updated until April 2016.
Today I updated my 64 bit Win 10 to the very latest and I find that Linrad no longer works on the USB3 ports having VIA USB3 eXtensible Host Controller. The driver date is 2017-09-28. Neither the 32 bit, nor the 64 bit version works, but the Renesas ports still work fine although they also have a new drive routine.
I have not found any way to install the previous driver for VIA.
An interesting thing is that perseus.exe works fine with the new VIA driver. Both perseus v4.1 which uses perseususb.dll and perseus.exe v5 which does not use perseususb.dll.
It is obvious that I am doing something wrong in Linrad, I will have a look at it to see if I can get Linrad going with the latest Microsoft driver for VIA.
Question: Is there anyone who can not get perseus.exe running on USB3 ports? I now know I have a USB3 problem with Linrad - maybe I will be able to fix it, but I do not expect Linrad to work on systems where perseus.exe v5 does not run on USB3 ports.

Thanks Leif.
The driver works with some USB3 hardware but not all.

Size 126464 bytes. I do not remember from where I got it. I have attached the output from listdll64.exe
Ihave now verified also on 64 bit Windows 10. I have motherboard USB2 and USB3 as well a PCIe card with USB3. All works well.
The Win 10 installation I tested was not updated since maybe April 2016. I now updated Win10 to the latest version - and also the 32 bit Win 10 installation I have on the same computer. As a result I can no longer boot into the 64 bit system. Microsoft has written something to the 64 bit installation that directs boots to the 32 bit installation:-(
This will take some time to repair - and I am afraid I will have to repair also Win 7 installations on the system (Four of them. Home and Ultimate 32 and 64 bit. Home allows only one CPU while Ultimate allows two.)
Lesson learned: Do never upgrade Win 10 again on a multiboot system.
I do not know if Microsoft would update the USB drivers and cause the perseususb to no longer work, but it does work well in the April 2016 system.

Well, I had some problems in the past, but today, with the latest drive routines for the USB system I have no problem on any USB3 port on any of my computers.
I would be interested to know if you would have any problem running Perseus
with Linrad on a "problematic" USB port.
If you think it would be difficult I would make an install video showing the
very few commands you need. Just tell me what OS you are using.

Re: Perseus on USB3 ports. (was Problems with V3 console after 1709 W10 installation)
Hi Simon and All, I have found the problem with the new driver for VIA USB3. In Linrad there is an option to set "DMA rate" for the input. Linrad uses that to compute the block size for reading from the input hardware. By setting min DMA size=1000 (Hz) the block size becomes small enough for Perseus to work again under 64 bit Win 10. I will do the appropriate change to the Linrad code to never read too big chunks from the USB3 port. Maybe the same problem exists with other hardware. I will check for it and take appropriate action if I find problems with other USB hardware under 64 bit Win 10. Hi Simon -
I;m aware of the info at your link but....

I have the signed USB drivers installed, as supplied on the Microtelecom site.
With the same machine and using either the USB2 or the USB3 ports, SDR Console sees the Perseus when I add it but nothing happens when I start the radio and attempt to listen live. The hourglass just spins forever. The same thing happens when I try to play back a previously recorded Perseus file.

Hi Simon,
I do not know from where I got it. If you run the installer here
https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fsm5bsz.com% 2Fdll.htm <https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fsm5bsz.com %2Fdll.htm&data=02%7C01%7Ccharlesh3%40msn.com%7C94e296aeab4d46e9585008d5391c 08ba%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636477714917915558&sdata=m LbZVIZB0vuP5CHuJIq7ABT31kn9CcAgL4oJnLrUkzI%3D&reserved=0> &data=02%7C01%7Ccharlesh3%40msn.com%7C94e296aeab4d46e9585008d5391c08ba%7C84d f9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636477714917915558&sdata=mLbZVIZB0vu P5CHuJIq7ABT31kn9CcAgL4oJnLrUkzI%3D&reserved=0 you will find it in C:\linrad\dll\x64

Ah, Now that makes sense – a thread is blocked by the failure to read from the Perseus. One solution is to use a USB PCIe card which is known to be good, another option is to buy the Airspy HF+.

Hi,
This is interesting - I'll try something tomorrow then maybe ask for some diagnsotics.

In case this may be useful to the dwindling few people still affected:
A while back we installed a GTX-950 in a heavy duty (always offline) Win7 machine to fully exercise V3.
V3 crashed as described ad nauseam previously, while V2 and everything else worked as usual.
Eventually we ripped out the NVIDIA drivers altogether and reverted to non CUDA operation... fine but... no CUDA.
Last week compulsion won out and we began retrotracking thru the list of drivers available on the NVIDIA site... download to save... install with no extras... crash... remove... repeat.
388.31... 395.69... etc, etc, to the bottom of the list... 376.33
376.33 works! No slow opens, no hangs, no freezes, no memory leaks to infinity... running full bore at 40 MHz gives a few % CPU and a few % GPU.
Guessing it's not a win dll... but don't really have to care anymore... WoooHoo! Life is fun again! :))

Hi,
Added on purpose, pain it is, now no longer applied
😊 .
Hi Simon
Firstly, keep up all the good work. This is by far the best SDR program out there.
When I switch between satellites using the Satellites list the volume is automatically going to 100% no matter what level I choose while on a particular satellite. This would not normally be a problem but when you are using headphones in
a shared room it not only makes me jump out of my skin but also those around me. Is there a setting that sets a default volume per satellite?
I am also not sure when this started happening as I have not had chance to do anything with satellites for a while and I know you have released a few new versions since I last used it.
Also I am not sure if anyone else has reported this as I did try a search but it didn’t return any results that helped.
I know you usually need screenshots but wasn’t sure what screenshot you would need so I have added a screenshot of the main console with the volume at a lower level and a screenshot to show what satellite was selected. Then there is one
where I have changed the satellite and the last is the main console showing the volume at 100%
Not an urgent one but wanted to make sure it wasn’t a bug ;-)
All the best

Re: Perseus on USB3 ports. (was Problems with V3 console after 1709 W10 installation)
More info: (and I should have added this before)
The playback fails (hangs up) if the receiver has been started. If the receiver is not started, I can play back OK.
I believe the USB to the Perseus is OK as the Perseus is configured properly when the radio is started. It's just that nothing happens afterwards. The spectrum display never shows anything and there is no audio.

Hi Simon -
I;m aware of the info at your link but....
(1) USB issues shouldn't affect playback of previously recorded files.
(2) SDR Console worked OK with my Perseus in 2015-2016-early 2017.
Does adding the Perseus definition and having it accepted mean that Console found the Perseus?
Chuck,
Everything I know about Perseus is on the website
http://www.sdr-radio.com/Radios/Perseus .
Here is a problem that may or may not have a common root. On my Win 10 x64 machine with 1709 uodates -
all ports (USB2 and 3) work with the native Perseus software ver 4.1.
SDR Console used to run perfectly on this machine, but I had not tried it in perhaps 8 months so don't really know when it broke.
Hello Simon,
A couple of days ago I verified that the dll works
fine on all USB3 ports of my i7 computer under 64 bit
Win 10. That was with a system updated until April 2016.
Today I updated my 64 bit Win 10 to the very latest
and I find that Linrad no longer works on the USB3
ports having VIA USB3 eXtensible Host Controller.
The driver date is 2017-09-28. Neither the 32 bit,
nor the 64 bit version works, but the Renesas ports
still work fine although they also have a new drive
routine.
I have not found any way to install the previous driver
for VIA.
An interesting thing is that perseus.exe works fine
with the new VIA driver. Both perseus v4.1 which uses
perseususb.dll and perseus.exe v5 which does not use
perseususb.dll.
It is obvious that I am doing something wrong in Linrad,
I will have a look at it to see if I can get Linrad going
with the latest Microsoft driver for VIA.
Question: Is there anyone who can not get perseus.exe
running on USB3 ports? I now know I have a USB3 problem
with Linrad - maybe I will be able to fix it, but I
do not expect Linrad to work on systems where perseus.exe
v5 does not run on USB3 ports.

Re: Perseus on USB3 ports. (was Problems with V3 console after 1709 W10 installation)

Simon Brown
Chuck, You threw me with the Perseus reference. If you can’t play files then yes, it’s borked. There’s a reset option, also you can post a screenshot.

Chuck, Everything I know about Perseus is on the website http://www.sdr-radio.com/Radios/Perseus . Here is a problem that may or may not have a common root. On my Win 10 x64 machine with 1709 uodates - all ports (USB2 and 3) work with the native Perseus software ver 4.1.

Hi,
Added on purpose, pain it is, now no longer applied
😊 .

It only transfers the Mode from DXtreme to SDR Console, but not the frequency.
Anyone more luck, and how?

Hello Simon and Ground friends:
I am testing last 64 bits preview with CW Skimmer. All is fine... IQ Data from SDR Console is going to CW Skimmer. But i think CAT is running 50%: Clicking on CW Skimmer waterfall --> Moves correctly SDR Console Frequency But Moving SDR Console Frequency it doesn't move CW Skimmer
Is this Ok? Or.... do i have a problem?
Thank's a lot.

Good Morning Simon,
Just wanted to follow up on the problem I’m having muting the receiver on the SDR Console here. I sent along the images you requested and wondered if you have any thoughts on what may be going on.
If you need the pics of the Omni Rig Client I’m going to include them again here. I’m hoping that this can be fixed so I’m able to use the SDR PLAY RSP2PRO with SDR CONSOLE.
If anyone else is running a Yaesu FTDX 5000 you might share how you have it set up with SDR CONSOLE as well.
