Remote Supported Radios

Pez T

Hi Simon,

I hope all is well. I am wondering if there is a published list of Radio's which are supported via the Remote (over internet) feature of Sdr-Console? (And then, if they offer RX support and/or TX support). I have looked on the website but I couldn't find anything that made it clear.

I have an ELAD FDM-DUO that I hoped to use IP Remote, but if that's not going to be possible then I want to know what other Transceivers I can use for my Remote station.

Thanks in advance,
Pez

The RSPdx comes in a metal case.

Looks like QRM from something nearby. Could be via the Coax, Antenna, or via (through) the plastic enclosure. Is the RXR
sitting next to the video monitor, or Vdc lines from a switching power supply or a UPS?

I have seen a bad ground connection in a USB cable ( open from one end to the other on the shield ) give terrible QRM. Have you tried a different USB cable?

I also had to wrap my RSP1A in copper foil to reduce external QRM sources. Not sure it the mfg applied any screening to the DX model.
From the image, it appears to about 350 KHz apart, which is little wider than the normal switching power supply QRM.

Re: Afedri AFE822X dual channel Diversity/phasing support?

As far as digital phasing, we may very well have the simplest solution right now. Instead of the SDR vendor software combining the two channels in the recording, they simply need to lay down the 2 channels in side by side streams in the RIFF file and build the software that can playback the 2 streams while at the same time providing variable digital delay to one or the other channel, all done after the recording process is done. This process needs to be standardized to allow any 'raw' 2 or more channel recordings to be digitally phased and played back after the fact.

Right now we lay down the SDR RIFF recording with a fixed phasing schema which 'freezes' the delay into the recording. Not doing that, opens up the possibility for variable digital phasing, after the fact.

A mass of code that does not always work. That is why it got pushed back on the project stack.

Just to make clear, what I was talking about in my starter post:
Other than the RX888 the RX-888 MKII has a digital attenuator (PE4312) only for HF and a VGA (AD8370 [the RX888 has a fixed LNA!]) for both HF and VHF.
That means, the attenuation/amplification range of the RX-888 MKII is from -41,5 dB to +33 dB for HF and from 0 dB to +55 dB for VHF (as Jinze Peng wrote).

I don't know what the driver API allows for the RX888 and the RX-888 MKII, but for a fully supported RX-888 MKII I would expect:
1. Slider for attenuation -31,5...0 dB for HF only
2. Slider for gain -10...+33 dB (?) for HF and VHF (or even extended range, if the R828D allows additional gain stages!)
3. 2 checkboxes for HF- and VHF-Bias-T on/off

It is in my project queue. I can feed Simon with information about distinguishing one from another and controlling stuff RX666 does not have. One of the items in the project queue here has fallen into the recently done pile. So there is hope. Maybe I can get back to what I'd been doing in a week or so.

Re: SDR Console and RX-888 MKII #sdr-consolev3

Doesn't the MKII have 64Mhz BW?

Think it would be helpful to have the option of choosing RX-888 or MKII in the receiver list, especially with the differences Dirk mentions
Yes, the RX-888 MKII has a lowpass filter 64 MHz in the HF path, so it is built to use the HF input up to 64 MHz and VHF above 64 MHz. With the RX888 this limit is -as far as I know- 32 MHz.
So a driver for the RX-888 MKII would have to switch between the RF inputs at 64 MHz. This is also a difference to the RX888.

Metal case vs "shielded" plastic case -
KA1GJU gave the cure above - I use aluminum and ground to station ground and toroid's on the input lines, makes a huge difference in my instance

Sven,

I'm sorry - I have no idea what has happened with the new APIs. It works for some people with API 3.09 - maybe others with RSP radios can comment here.

One thing - SDR Console is a 64-bit program, I think the others are 32-bit.

So can you catch a screen shot with a menu showing? For that the main screen shot is about your only trick.
