Re: Configuration SDR Console with Fldigi

So you do have the "use Port class" checkboxes checked. You are, I presume, connecting one item to one COM port and the other item to which it is to speak connected to the other COM port of the pair.  I am not sure what happens when two apps open the same COM port number. They won't talk to each other but both may well talk to a third app on the related COM port.

Thanks jdow, I do not succeed with SDR Console and Fldigi. I uninstalled com0com then reinstalled and I can only get COM# COM# pairs, which obviously do not work. Then I uninstalled again and installed VSP Manager with which I can add virtual pairs but no success again.

Well, I stop these many hours of unsuccess and will keep my current working pair of Quisk-Fldigi until I feel better and find what I missed.

Could be storage - we're on the free option, more storage costs $200 / year I think.

Re: Using asymmetrical IF filters affectively in your SDR

Not exalted carrier - that's something else. It's just playing with tuning the signal around within a fixed filter. With the 8 kHz filter or 4 kHz filter I never tuned out the carrier for AM reception. That said, I have used the filter to convert AM to either LSB or USB replacing it with the BFO. Um, in that regard I had also doctored my R390A. It uses a 7360 tube for the SSB/CW demodulator. That works very cleanly and even looks like OEM. (The7360 was a beam deflection tetrode with a pair of anodes and some deflection electrodes. It makes a VERY good multiplier (mixer) in the empty state electronics world.)

I guess the real difference is that its done in software, nearly infinitely variable, using two great free software packages.
Some folks may not have been aware of how effective it can be.

com0com works fine. But it's confusing.

COM4 and COM3 works

CNCA0 and CNCB0 doesn't work.

Note the different setting for the "use Ports class" checkboxes.

Continued on from last post. Pressed "Reply" by mistake!

To hear audio from SDRC when sent to Virtual Cable you need to "listen" to it

You can "listen" to the VAC input on your PC speakers/headphones by tick-box setting in Windows Audio Devices:

Windows "Run" command then enter "mmsys.cpl" and press return then select properties for "VAC Line 1" or whatever in the Recording tab, then tick "Listen to this Device" in "Listen" tab) and in so doing leave the VAC permanently as the output of SDRC for feeding to multiple decoders (SSTV/FLdigi or what-have-you).

This should get you a long way there. For TX control of FLDIGI I'm not totally sure because I don't use it, but I guess select PTT to same com port (COM4) if needed?

Hope it helps.

Hello Pierre

You already have the two parts you need. Com and Virtual Cable.

See here for configuring Serial/Com port:
https://www.sdr-radio.com/SerialPort

For FLDIGI go here and download the Kenwood TS2000 XML file for FLDIGI:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/fldigi/files/xmls/kenwood/

In the Serial Port Options in SDRC, tick just the port that will send information from SDRC to FLDIGI (Com3)
In FLDIGI "RigCAT" tab, select the other port of the pair in the CAT settings (Com4) and "Open" the Rig description file you just down loaded for the TS2000.

When you run SDRC and FLDIGI you should now see the SDRC frequency and mode communicated to FLDIGI.

You need two virtual audio cables, one from SDRC to FLDIGI and one from FLDIGI to SDRC

Select each cable in the SDRC RX DSP and TX DSP  panel for SDRC as appropriate.

VHF Afedri has an R820T2 as a VHF downconverter. The Network Control box allows AGC or RF gain and IF gain to be controlled manually so it must be possible.
