Hi Dino,

You might perhaps try to go via Ham Radio deluxe and link it to SDR Console via Virtual Serial Cable....

Re: Sdr console commercial (or open) APIs #sdrconsole

Hi,

The WAV file is standard – the only essential info you don’t have in the metadata is the centre frequency of the radio, otherwise you have sample rates, bit depth, I + Q (L + R) data. So you can certainly read the WAV file now.

Starting a recording, demodulating a specific frequency and saving the audio would not be difficult to add, just a question of time.

Anyway, to answer your question there isn’t an API for this in my software but it’s very basic DSP, something you may be able to achieve with MATLAB or GNU Radio. You could even dig out a C++ compiler and write this yourself 😊 .

(For a commercial project I am trying to size)

I need to be able to selectively / programmatically ** demodulate  a single channel from large (20 mhz wide) archive I.Q. recordings created by sdr-console.

E.g. Convert from  .wav iq format to standard wav (Waveform Audio File Format) based on dynamic selection parameters - see example below )

Can anyone recommend a set of open or commercial APIs (any language) that would be able to read the SDR console WAV format natively for this type of processing?

Specifically a question to the SDR console devs, do you offer a commercial ($) API to expose these functions from SDR-console for direct use by applications?

Example scenario

Input file = I.Q .wav file (all 20Mhz of FM band for 24 hours for region X)

Parameters :requested frequency (e.g. 99.9 mhz), requested bandwidth  (200 khz), modulation type (e.g. FM ) , optional (offset and duration)

Output : a standard wav audio file corresponding to the selection parameters.

Thanks for any guidance,

Jay

SDRPlay RSP1a and Yaesu FTdx3000 IF OUT

Richards

Howdy SDR Fans !

Please forgive my corn-fusion - this is very difficult for me to put into words.

I have encountered an odd result using an RSP1a with my FTdx3000 on the 9 MHz IF-OUT and the External Radio feature.   If I click on a signal trace (vertical line) on the waterfall, the RSP1a tunes,  and receiver tunes, but not to the signal I selected thereby.   Instead, it shifts the waterfall display - that is the signal traces (vertical lines) on the waterfall sift to the left or right several MHz - and the RSP1a fails to tune the desired signal previously indicated in the waterfall.

OmniRig is working properly.   I have selected IF-Output = 9,000,000 with no mode offsets.  (I do not understand what those do, or why I would select such an offset - I purchased the RSP1a expecting a turnkey operation ... )

The upshot is ... if I mouse click on a waterfall trace, the radio tunes, but not to the trace and the trace appears to the right or left of the frequency displayed by SDR Console.   This makes it impossible to use the application as a panadapter to tune the rig, because clicking on a signal does not tune the RSP1a and also does not tune the FTdx3000 to the station indicated by the trace,  and I essentially chase the signal around the computer screen without finding the station.

For example, clicking on the trace for WWV on 5 MHz  on the left part of the waterfall display simply moves the trace (line) to the right on the display, rather than tuning the station, itself.   Very strange.   Again this does not happen when using the RF-OUT option.

Win 10 64 bit OS
Mambo size new computer with 16 Gig RAM
AMD Ryzen 7 processor
OmniRig appears to work properly
FTdx3000  and RSP1a - all latest drivers, etc.

I attach an image of my SDR Console screen illustrating the odd frequency shift above.

Any clues?   Have I misunderstood how to set the software for this combination?

Call me "Lost in RF"  --   Thanks in advance.   James -K8JHR -

Re: Sdr Console and DsD plus

Pete you have to install a virtual audio cable to send the sdrc audio to a virtual output. Then when you launch dsd.exe you have to specify the input by using the -i and number of input which you get a list of when you launch dsd.exe.

I Don’t have a howto handy but if your familiar with sending audio to a VAC from SDR Console and selecting an input from whatever 3rd party decoder you might happen to use it’s basically the same thing.

+ somewhat too heavy for my CPU/GPU

Not sure what you wanted to see, but here the are.

Whether related or not is for you to decide, but I can make the program stops processing by switching on or off my 220V => 110V PSU for the antenna rotor.
The last message in the attached log is this one, which is at the time of the power-on:

07:52:31.762: OnSysCommand: nID 0000F120 SC_RESTORE, lParam 00000000

Just pressing the stop- and start-button makes it resume.

Hi Simon,

Sometimes SDR-Console (Version 3.0.1 build 1200 Release)  disappears (program ends) without any message.

There are no entries in the event log.

The only recent 'SDR Console.txt' file I can find sits in

C:\Users\Dick\AppData\Roaming\SDR Console

and is empty.
It’s date/time modified seems to be of the moment the program ended.

What info do you need in case you would like to investigate this?

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 32-bit (10.0, Build 17134) (17134.rs4_release.180410-1804)

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU    Q6600  @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
