I am thinking in terms of communications between OmniRig and
SDRC. Remember that you cannot open a com port and share it with
multiple applications. So you cannot connect SDRC to the radio's
comport and OmniRig to the radio's comport at the same time. {^_^} On 20220705 12:28:15, Cody via

jdow thanks for the quick reply. My radio is using com 7, Yaesu installs two com ports one for rig control, in my case com 7 and com 8 sends data cw digital ect. So how can I use a virtual cable? Where do I set the VC in SDRC? I’m new to the realm of virtual anything. I thought I only need OmniRig Vrs. 1.20 which is what I have installed. I did have it working last week ago

I echo your observations, Paul. I have found EXACTLY what you describe. Larry

RDS decoding in Console is very good but always check reception a few times from recordings, I've lost count of the times I've played back a short section of reception and the PI code has popped up only once in 3 or 4 loops of the same recording. This has been observed not only on Console but Sharp too so it's always a good idea to replay the same bit of reception a few times in case you get lucky.
I'd also suggest running RDS Spy in conjunction with the VAC output because that will grab PIs when Console doesn't. Asymmetric filtering is another critical component to RDS decoding if there's QRM to one side of the wanted signal. One other trick that very occasionally causes a PI to pop up is to quickly switch between preset bandwidths like 150, 175 and 192kHz. Paul G7PUV G9PUV RX-888 MKII, Elad FDM-S3, RTLSDR820. With com0com or equivalent you get virtual cables that have two ends. If you try to open COM7 in SDRC and in OmniRig it's not going to work. Find the other end of COM7's virtual cable and have one of the two use it instead of COM7. {o.o} On 20220705 11:08:42, Cody via

SDRC is not designed to support side-by-side installations. A proper such design would not use the same registry and %apdata% folders for storing settings, thus making them truly independent of each other. SDRSharp does this if that is what you want. With this in mind a settings snapshot feature that archives all settings before the user gets into "experimental" mode might be a good thing. {^_^} On 20220704 23:25:13, Gord Seifert

Re: Remaining VAC Issue
I found the problem. The command 'Buffers' has been replace with 'BufferParts'. Any existing batch files need to be edited with this change.
Audio using SDR Console now sounds good.

Re: Remaining VAC Issue
Last night, I updated VAC from 4.15 to 4.67.
When I use my batch files (one file per VAC Line) to start Audio Repeater, I receive the error message as shown in an attached picture. This picture shows the error message and and the batch file as used in version 4.15. Documentation with VAC seems to indicate that nothing has changed from previous versions. Also attached is the VAC 4.67 Control Panel screen I do not see a way to correct this. I really don't want to revert back to the old version. Thanks for any help. George

Re: Remote encoder
Don Woodward - KD4APP
I looked at that one - it says "multimedia" so I wasn't sure.
I found this one and also found out SDRConsole supports mapping keys to the functions - this one has programmable keys. For example, I could map the "T" key to TX in SDRConsole and then map "T" to a button on this. Also looks like you can map the arrow keys
to the shuttle to control the frequency.

Re: Cached data
Yes,
the maximum cache size is 480MB, I'll increase this to the greater of 480MB and 1/8 installed RAM, so if you have 8GB it'll be 1GB, if you have 16GB it'll be 2GB etc.

If I set the cache to 30s...and record for 30 seconds I should get a file with 60 seconds of data, correct? What I see is only 42 seconds. When I look at the logfile I see: Cached data...12 seconds. Should that not be 30 seconds?
Could someone play with this and report back...

Thanks for looking at this issue. Would you be so kind to annotate on the VAC Control Panel picture which field or fields need updating and what a good value would be? Have a good Tuesday. Regards,

Thanks, it's flow control bursting. If possible, put a bigger buffer in the VAC I think.
