By all means take it off your system and make sure you are not paying for it. Its description sounds like it is very intrusive on your system for no solid benefit.

Sort of on the same topic of CPU load. I'm running the server on a second laptop in the basement.  I get very high CPU load related to a process called dsone.exe which appears to be running in the background. Anyone know what this is and how to eliminate it?

I've not seen this CPU but the spec. does show two very usable cores. My guess is that it's the graphics and FFT.

i offered him a remote session via teamviewer to tune the cpu load down (as you sure remember my atom tablet also has a tiny cpu compared to what i use now)

maybe i can get it working with not toooo high load !?!?

absolutely. I will not deny that on certain SW frequencies Airspy comes through
a little more clearly, but in LW and MW area Elad S2 becomes superior. Living

Thanks for your comments, Lars.  Given the title of the topic, I was
considering 137 MHz alone in the comparisons.

You need an appropriate antenna for weather satellites, and given that, I would
expect the Airspy HF+ to be quite adequate for the purpose, unless you have a
very long feeder cable in which case you would need a pre-amp.  I would expect
that to apply to most other receivers as well.

One issue to consider is whether you have strong local signals on frequencies
passed by your antenna.  If so, without filtering, a more expensive receiver
/may/ do better than the Airspy HF+ Discovery.

If something "sounds crazy" - there may be a good reason.

Interestingly, SDR# only produces about 36% CPU load, so I have to use this program.
