Re: Analyzer: CloudIQ vs Airspy HF+

Hi Bjarne,

I've gone through re-doing the radio definition a dozen times already.  SDR Console couldn't find my CloudIQ.

Will give it another shot tonight.  Glad I have the HF+!!

Ken

Ken,
try to re-do Definitions in SDR-C. As for power, if you have a spare USB 3.0 port and an appropriate cable, you can power the Cloud-IQ off the PC. Maybe even USB 2.0, but that's a bit hit and miss.

I solved the issue.

the field "listening on all" has to be replaced by the local IP address of the host computer.  Else it does not work.

Hi Alan,

You're right, everything is likely within spec.  However, the CloudIQ never generated plots with this kind of periodic variation before.  My equipment is in an air conditioned room.  I don't know what the temperature variations would actually be but I can't imagine it's more than a few degrees.  The HF+ sat in exactly the same place for the test last night and the plots speak for themselves.

I do have a spare power supply for the CloudIQ and will give that a try tonight

Thanks and 73,

Ken

  Ken,

Not actually much if viewed as PPM?
Does you temperature change about that time?
I see the Airspy spec is 0.5ppm, the Cloud <2.5ppm.

Hi Bjarne,

I have plots of spectra from 747 to 837 kHz inclusive from last night's 6 hour (1400 - 20000 UTC) recording.  You can find them in my Dropbox, here:

I'd be very interested in what your comparisons show.

Btw for fun I will also compare your spectra with my Jaguar spectra for the same times and frequencies.

...and now I can't connect to my CloudIQ.

1.  Power OFF/ON Cloud IQ does nothing
2.  Disconnect/reconnect LAN cable does nothing (will check to see if I have another)
3.  Both of the above together
4.  Re-start SDR Console, nothing
4.  Reboot computer plus all of the above does nothing.

When it rains, it pours! 😥

Yes, indeed you do have instability, that’s a good comparison.

Further to a recent thread I can no longer find, I ran an 8 hour overnight IQ recording of a portion of the MW band with my Airspy HF+ to compare with recent recordings made with my CloudIQ.  Looking at the two attached plots it appears the CloudIQ definitely has some stability issues, which I will take up with RFSpace.

Network source

mael.pataud@...

I all, I'm new in sdr and in groups.io. I'm currently working with National Instrument devices with Labview graphical langage. I Have a NI oscilloscope digitizer that I can use to acquire the complete HF band and I can do a DSP to get a band of interest. I would like to send my data to a sdr client.
Is it possible to use a custom IQ network source to feed the console ?
For example can I send an IQ stream by TCP or UDP from a digitizer to the client.
Basically it's similar to an external radios but with network in place of IF.
I've seen that it's possible to set a serveur but can I replace this server with my own acquisition system. Is the communication protocol open ?
Thanks

My V3 server not seen on sdr-radio

Pedro M.J. Wyns (on Dell XPS)

I run a Perseus with SDR V3 and I have opened up my port 50101 on my router for both TCP and UDP to the local PC address.
My windows firewall is off.

I can start the server service but I do not get the OK plus timestamp and I do not see my server on the list.

Any ideas what can be wrong.

I my windows task manager I see TWO sdr servers running ???

Hi Ingolf,

I emailed them last night and got the same reply back as you.  Not much we can do except wait and grumble, I suppose.  We'll have to see what happens next week, then a couple of messages to Yousef Touill might be in order to see what levers he can pull.

Regards,
Dave

Dear Ingolf,

it is backordered
Please wait for the shipment in about one week

end Snipe.

When I placed the order it clearly said "In stock" in bright green text for this Airspy HF+. It still says so.
I can not say I am impressed nor totally happy with the way ITEAD communicates their ability to deliver their goods. As I understand it, it was a totally false statement.

I do hope the "week" they now communicate is more true than previous statements.
