Re: ARGH! My stuttering is back on the SDR-iq's via remote

HERB KEATON N2GEW

Can anyone help with this?
I have every client in my LAN enjoying stutter-free audio and control with G4ELI server.
It simply works, no issue. In all clients: Desktop, Laptop, WiFi.

Many other servers present excessive stuttering audio and control latency, some of which are completely unusable. INCLUDING my own effort with the Airspy HF+ with V3 server in the LAN.

Any way to cut through this and start looking to explain?
My apology if this exposes my lack of networking (or other) knowledge.
But I simply don't have what it takes to continue to resolve without anything
further.

Bob and Simon,
Just for the record.
AO-85 was launched on a secret US government launch so the TLES are not available via Celestrak etc.
They only appear in the TLE's generated by AMSAT-NA e.g.: nasabare.txt

Hi,

Glad you got it working. The Log Periodic covers 130 to 1300 MHz, is a good general-purpose workhorse but not as good as a dedicated 2m or 70cms antenna with low noise pre-amp.

The mast is from Scotland, Tennamast, I doubt you would want to have it shipped.

Simon,

I have always kept the RF gain at "1", but turning off AGC fixed the problem.  V3 now starts the radio first time every time. I can even Stop and Start the radio at will without problems. So that puts V3 back on my "nice" list. Once the radio has started, however, I do turn AGC back on, otherwise the audio sounds like crap. Then before I shutdown V3, I turn AGC off. Note that if I'm listening to the audio through the TS-590S, I can keep the AGC off.

Hi,

In the ribbon bar, Satellite List:

* Select
* Enter 85

You'll see AO-85 in the list - assuming your Keps are updating:

* Ribbon bar, help, Tools, Options
* Satellites > Keplerian Data
* Reload Now
* Make sure a sensible Update option is selected.

I am unable to locate Satellite AO-85 in ANY TLE set I choose, in Satellites.

Now, I can easily find, and use, that Satellite when I am using SatPC32.

I can easily find and use it inside PstRotator's Satellite window.

So, where in the Windowes-10 file structure might I find and replace the nasabare.txt or the NasAll.txt with one that contains AO-85?

Really, I have no clue how I wound up deleting that bird from the Daily TLE updates. but despite many many tries to update, A)-85, on my Drive, never re-appears.

I had this exact problem twice usuly after a windows update, both times I have got it going by reinstalling sdrplay hw driver https://www.sdrplay.com/software/SDRplay_ExtIO_Installer_1.2.exe but before install I had to disable driver signature enforcement on Windows 10 by open cmd (command promp) in admin mode and enter bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks on and press Enter.

Albert,

I do need these files, especially the crash dump (.DMP). Without them I can’t help I’m afraid.

Questions:

  • What operating system?
  • 32-bit or 64-bit?

[Edited Message Follows]

Hi Simon,
Thanks coming back to this topic / my problem. Have now re-installed VER 3.03 build 1263. Starts up ok. Than I add via VIEW > more Options > Satellites and push OK. Program asks to restart as per normal procedure.As the program restarts immediately the Please Wait square message appears and Console hangs. You only see the blue SDR Console 3.0 Start-Up square message and build/64 bit and expiration date info. After like 10 seconds in the left lower corner of the screen I can see the Console Logo slightly color- flashing which hides a small Message from BugReport which I try to open (it now appears much bigger  exactly over the spot where the Blue SDR Console square is positioned). However once I try to use that program (BugTrap) it instantly disappears and I cannot use the program using these interesting buttons like Preview Save Info and State.
(plse see my first message and I have attached a new Screen Print as well (all speaking UNKNOWN ERROR module Windows\system32\KERNELBASE.dll at XXX - RaiseException() +104 byte(s)
As from that moment I can  kill  the program (still hanging in the Blue upstart logo) via the  right mouse button on the lower left Console Icon. See attached picture. (Sometimes this killing  via the menu option isn't possible and I must use the taskmanager to get rid of the Blue Logo.
Following yr website https://www.sdr-radio.com/Support#FullReset  I can rightclick on the taskmanager and create a dumpfile (see screenprint) where I also see other zipped error_reports.
I can provide you of course with these file for your perusal.

Hope you can help me further with this info.

Thanks in advance 73

Re: Frustrating

Simon Brown

John,

There is a bug in the SDRplay support library which causes this freeze, it’s been reported to and reproduced by the SDRplay team. While I am waiting for a fix do not use the automatic AGC with high RF gains (8, 9), or simply don’t use the automatic AGC.

The reason for the change over the last week is simply signal levels.

A screenshot will show these values which helps me confirm that it is indeed the SDRplay code which is at fault.

I'm at my wits end. V3 seldom starts the SDRPlay RSP2 radio.   And when the radio doesn't start, V3 hangs and refuses to close. I've tried everything. I did a full reset. I did a complete reinstall. I've unplugged and plugged in the USB cable. I've tried different USB ports. I just can't get V3 to reliably start the radio. When the radio does start, however, V3 is a super program and I love it.

The crazy part of this problem is that V3 up to about a week ago ran perfectly.  Then one day the radio wouldn't start, and hasn't reliably started ever since.  What happened?

While on the other hand, SDRuno and HDSDR Beta 2.8 work first time every time.  You would think that would rule out any problem with the radio and computer.  Both are very good and reliable programs, but when V3 is working I like it the best.  I'm frustrated and just about to give up on V3.  Maybe I'll wait for V4 before I scrap Console altogether and move on to something else.

Just for the record, I'm using the SDRPlay RSP2 as a panadapter for my Kenwood TS-590S ham radio.

A possibility you might investigate is a virus. They can cause trouble with a program and not others. I ran into this with another program and had to format my hard drive and start over. Not fun but solved the problem. There are many new nasty virus out there.

Albert,

With 3.0.3 (and only 3.0.3) do you get a crash dump after ‘Please Wait’ finishes? Don’t kill the program with the Task manager, let it run even if it takes some minutes.

Hi ! Further to my "Crash" info :

1/ I'm 100% sure it is in the Satellite Module where the problem sits. After full re-installment / loading  of the V3 software all goes well until the moment I add  the Sat Module and start using this Satellite module.
Within seconds the "Waiting" message appears in the middle of the screen. Once this has happened the system freezes/hangs and you can only escape via the task manager. On top of that the identity chosen  is corrupted, chosing another Identity will make that identity crash as well and corrupt it . This even happens after de-installing and re-installing so must be "hidden" in the register...(I suppose)
2/ Choosing in the startup WIN10 menus the option V3 Tools > Change Identity > Option > Reset end delete  the Console Ident(0) to (4) using the Registry Editor "frees / liberates " the Identity again and you can use that Identity. Once you start using again the Satellite module all crashes again and you are back at zero.

So ok can use Console but not using the satellite module which is my main driver to Use Console (apart from the ease of use and great graphic interface and a lot of other goodies !.)
Still all my SAT activities, mainly Telemetry decoding are dead.

Re: Bias Tee/RTL Dongle or Application startup to run Bias Tee?

barmellin@...

You can use this
https://www.rtl-sdr.com/rtl-sdr-blog-v-3-dongles-user-guide/
"

To enable the bias tee in Windows:

  1. Download and extract all the files in this zip file to a folder on your PC. It contains two batch files that can be run.
  2. Make sure all SDR software like SDR#/HDSDR/SDR-Console etc is fully closed.
  3. Run the biastee_on.bat file to turn the bias tee on. It will run and open a CMD prompt that will briefly say "Found Rafael Micro R820T Tuner". The CMD prompt will close soon after upon success.
  4. The bias tee is now on. To turn it off repeat steps 2 & 3, but instead run the biastee_off.bat batch file. Alternatively, simply disconnect and then reconnect the SDR to turn the bias tee off."
