Re: OMNIRIG - limited to 2 GHz

Simon Brown

Hi,

I do not have time to add Hamlib at the moment. There's a new, free OmniRig client which may provide the support needed but to be honest I don't think it will. If you see a reference to a new version of OmniRig with support for frequencies above 4GHz let me know.

I don't see how you are reading 10GHz from the K3, is this some up/down-converter option?

Hi,

I looked at the code – I call a Windows function to enumerate the MIDI devices, that in turn will be waking up the offending device’s DLLs. I’ll see if I can catch the error / exception but this isn’t always possible.

@Simon - It's an odd case, that's for sure. The bigger problem I had was the splash screen completely covered the BugTrap window, so I could never see the details of the crash. I could tell by looking at the thumbnail during Alt-Tab that there was a dialog under there, but I could never view it without crashing the whole thing as soon as I clicked the splash screen to try to move it, etc. A --nosplash command line option would be useful during such debugging.

@Joe - I've heard about that, but I never get stuttering on the 3.2MHz bandwidth on the other apps. (I do notice the spikes but I just steer clear of them.) SDR Console doesn't seem to hog the CPU like some apps, so I'm not sure why it seems more problematic with that (I'm not even sure it's dropping packets... besides stuttering noticeably, the voice pitch for someone speaking is noticeably higher as well, versus lower bandwidths. That's peculiar to this application as well.) Could be some relatively simple bug (the pitch shift is very odd), so it was worth mentioning.

Maybe that will fix the problem I have noticed of the zoomed in display in Console and the Signal Analyzer display showing little resemblance to each other, plus signals in the Console waterfall that do not appear in the Signal Analyzer display.

I'll wait for 3.0.7.

Re: No RIFF Field

Simon Brown

Larry,

It’s not an audio file it’s a WAV file, but anyway that’s just a semantic. I changed the format to WAV RF64 which is a valid standard, the other programs you are using don’t support RF64. RF64 allows a recording in a single file of any size.

What I will do in 3.0.7 is use the WAV RIFF format if the file size option is selected with a size of 2GB or less, WAV RF64 is the file size is > 2GB or unlimited.

I’ll get in contact with Black Cat systems about Amalgamated DGPS and supply a sample. I can’t find PSkov Spectrum Builder – do you have a link?

I've never had a problem until I upgraded to SDR Console 3.0.6 yesterday. Both programs presented me with a window stating the file was not a WAV file and that there was "No RIFF Field". Has something changed and I need to change a setting in SDR Console?

LIme SDr Mini Offset TX Switchable ? V3.0.6 ?

Jempi ( ON7MA )

Hello
Using 3.0.6
LimeSDR Mini, works good, but sends 250KHz lower..
can that be changed, so 432.550 Mhz is exactly 432.550 Mhz..
Strange thing, on 1 computer it is spot on freq, on other PC it is 250Kc lower.. ?
This looks strange..
Allthougt on 1 PC Pluto , does not send, on other computer it does.. all with 3.0.6
Is there way to full initialize the software ?

Auto Mute capability

HERB KEATON N2GEW

Since I know this is operator error, I am not attaching to any on going threads.

I have used several builds of SDR-V3 and  currently at SDR Console version 3.0.3. I have never had the
functionality of the auto-mute function: at least the way I believe this should work during my transmit cycle.

I have a Kenwood transceiver, RF Space Cloud IQ and SDRC. Through OmniRig and the SDRC External Radio,
the Cloud IQ is enabled as a "panadapter" for the transceiver. HRD provides a third-party interface and everyone
exchanges data as they should. When I am in transmit, I have to set a very high mean threshold (-70 db) in order to
mute the audio and zero the waterfall. I am running with peak disabled and have adjusted various for mute and
restore.

After transmit, there is no received audio or waterfall without going back to a reduced mean threshold. And that's
fine until the next transmit when the result is distorted audio and a restored waterfall/overload.

From checking the threads, this Auto Mute function was added a very long time ago to previous
builds with minimum issues reported since. So I am clearly missing something:  I confess operator error
and am not clear and understanding enough on this functionality.

Thanks,
N2GEW

Sorry to reply to my own message but I have just seen the previous thread on this very subject!

I have now set a transverter offset of +307.5Mhz (as per Sigi's suggestion) so both radios are now "in sync" but obviously it shows the UHF frequency which is a bit sad as I quite like to see 10Ghz in the waterfall :)

Offset for external radio in 3.0.6

Phil M0VSE

Hi Simon.

I have installed 3.0.6 and am using it with a SDRPlay (and occasionally a LimeSDR) for receiving the QO-100 transponder and have configured an external radio (Icom IC-7100) which I am using to drive my 13cm transverter for TX.

I was hoping that I could put an offset into the External radio panel so I could make the external radio track the receiver frequency but I can't seem to find a way to do it.

Is this possible, as it would be great if I could put a 10.05755Ghz offset so it sends (and receives) the frequency from the Icom on 432Mhz?

Muting of RX on TX is working well though as this was something that I was doing manually before!
