Re: SDR Console on Mac M1 with Parallels #sdrplay #usb #sdrconsole

Hi Mike,

I have SDR Console V3.3 running on Windows 11 ARM64 in Parallels Desktop on a iMac M1 using a RSPdx. I am using parallels v18.2.0. I am also running SDRUNO in Isochronous USB transfer mode. To get SDR Console working I installed SDRUNO and ran that. Then I installed SDR Console and it worked without changing any settings.

I do!

As far as I can see, this is the last version I put on Dropbox.

Does anyone have the download link for Simon's Toolbox? I have it and installed it a while ago and I wanted to recommend the Greyline map that is in it to some folks, but I can't seem to find the link? My Greyline version is 1.0 build 249.

I have Simon's World Map, but I like the Greyline program better and it lets you create several small zoomed map areas to better see the live terminator moving. I like the dotted lines on the greyline on that map too.

Thanks in advance,
Rick Kunath, K9AO

Good,

It's a Windows 7 thing, I googled the error and found the same thing with SKYPE, albeit from many years ago.

Problem

This problem occurs because Windows 7 is not configured to support the TLS 1.2 protocol, and the Federated partner disabled support for TLS 1.0 and 1.1 in their on-premises environment.

Error "12029" is a WinHTTP error code that indicates that a socket connection failed because encrypted communication could not be established.

Malwarebytes is a bit of a problem, it's over keen.

I think you may be able to tell it that SDR Console is OK, anyway this is the problem.

I have never had an issue like this in the past.

I see where I can set up an exclusion, but to do this for every remote SDR seems really excessive.  What would you do in this situation?

Thanks for looking into this.

Sent earlier but hasn't appeared?

A number of us receive weather satellite data directly from a rebroadcast
satellite with rates of 60/70/80 Mbps. This is UDP data so anything missed
matters - no rebroadcasts. There are a number of steps we take to address
this, one is buffering with a RAMdisk perhaps not relevant here, but another is
looking at interrupt latency. There's a program you can use to measure this:

http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml

but that seems to have vanished. My Web page is here if it's of interest:

https://www.satsignal.eu/wxsat/dpc/index.html

and the program used is "DPC Latency Checker". Google gives various sources.
The dpclat-V1.4.0.exe I have is 306,928 bytes.

Returning to this issue.

I record using a Lenovo Thinkpad T14 Gen 2 AMD Ryzen, and play back on that laptop or on a Lenovo P1 Gen 3 Intel i7-10750H @ 2.6 GHz 6 core.

Both devices suffer from stuttering in the audio when monitoring live or when playing back recordings.

The T14 stutters when plugged in or when on battery.  Problem is largely alleviated if I open a youtube video in a browser and put it on continuous (muted) play in the background.  This was a tip from Paul Cianciolor on this forum.

The P1 doesn't seem to stutter when plugged in, but does stutter badly when on battery.  I had a particularly frustrating time this morning trying to listen to some recordings while commuting.  Network was offline, so youtube wasn't an option.  Running other video apps in the background made no difference.

David Jackson said this is a throttling issue, but I've not yet descended into trying different tools for unlocking the throttling.

Simon asked for the MMCSS log files.  Here's mine from this morning when stuttering was bad:

06:26:59.972: RX1 Audio> MMCSS: Multimedia Class Scheduler service
06:26:59.972: RX1 Audio>   AvSetMmThreadCharacteristics(Pro Audio) handle = x00000954, task index = 41
06:26:59.972: RX1 Audio>   AvSetMmThreadPriority(2)    status = 1
06:26:59.973: RX1 Audio>   AvQuerySystemResponsiveness status = 1, value = 20
06:26:59.973: RX1 Audio>

I'm hoping there's a setting or workaround to solve this issue that won't require too much messing with the thermal control of the laptops, and it would be great to remove the need to run youtube videos.

Thanks!

Rick
