Softrock Support
Dom Baines M1KTA
Hi all...
Whilst Simon will be monitoring messages I am sure I will try and pick up some of the support issues that appear here related to the use of SDR-Radio and Softrock SDR RX and eventually RXTX. I will add to the files section some docs about the installation and configuration ffor the softrock and various different windows operating systems and SDR-Radio. At this time I will not include anything associated with running it on Linux or Wine as neither are supported. Unfortunately, I have a day job so useful responses sometimes might take a few days. 72 Dom M1KTA |

SDR-Radio Server frequency variance
obrienaj <k3ukandy@...>
I was connected to an SDR-IQ UK server today, and tuned to 198 Khz. No "big signal" from Radio Four. I found Radio 4 up around 192. Then I connected to another SDR in the UK and BBC Radio 4 was on 198. Would frequency really vary that much ?

Don't mention ELP, two of the 3 were supposed to do a gig here 3 weeks ago. My next door neighbour had front row seats and was really excited... after waiting an hour past show time, they canceled the gig. Reportedly they had a fight back stage!

Now that bring back good memories. I have that on vinyl stored away in a closet. This will prompt me to get a new cartridge for that ancient turntable. It will be another thing to hook up to that delta44 sound card.

Welcome back my friends to the show that never endsI remember the ELP group, but had forgotten the words - those are scary words. Well, I'm nowhere near the first to post, but still in the forefront of early posts. I've been looking forward to Simon's SDR-radio program.... The RXTX version. I think this one is still RX only? You're doing GREAT work Simon, and the rest of the team, THANK YOU - 73 de Ken H> |

Re: Welcome

Yes, currently RX only. I'm planning on having full TRX by the end of June at the latest, first transceiver being the MOBOKIT and SoftRock v6.3 .
With any luck there will be some interesting SDR transceiver announcements this year.

After I have finished obtaining the LPF output TX figures from it for Tony Parks and boxed it up I will probably not use it again until after the summer so do you want me to send you the finished Ensemble Softrock RXTX I had built? The one I built was for 80m/40m so should be fine for EU. It will have the save firmware as the V9.0 RX you have and the TX/PTT control is the same as a V6.3. Alex sent me a Mobo V4.3 and Widget Lite (USB Audio, Alex just achieved Stereo with the firmware code so SDR use should be just around the corner now) to build for you complete with a set of mini filters so should have those boxed up with the 4x20 display, fan (will use a 1U copper CPU 12V fan) and rotary controller ready for Freidrishafen 2010. It will look similar to the pictures here http://sites.google.com/site/lofturj/softrock6_3 with a plastic control knob and a 4x20 LCD display. I'll either pinch one from a Pic-A-Star build as using a 320x240 display on that or order some from a Chinese electronics place and it will be in in a week or so. You OK with black on green or want another colour combination? 72 Dom M1KTA

Hello all
Deliboy <bigt101@...>
Just got my RF Space SDR-IQ and IF-2000 for my FT-950. This is my first SDR. I use HRD all the time. So I do know that fantastic software somewhat. Can the IQ and the SDR-Radio be set up to do both, be a receiver on it's own and be use with the FT-950. Can I put a switch on the input? Whats the best way, if it can be done. Should have everything installed this weekend. Thislooks like it may be the future of radio. Thanks in advance

Re: Welcome
Simon HB9DRV <simon@...>
Let's see - I should be able to feed the TX I+Q back through the receiver to check the quality of the TX data, so for the time being I'm OK. For me to text the TRX I'll use the MOBOKIT.
The TX plans are:
1) Actually generate I+Q for TX 2) Provide full MOBOKIT support
The MOBOKIT could be a very exciting transceiver :)
I'll then add TRX support for other radios such as Lazy Dog and Nick's radio from Australia. But first I have bugs to fix and from May 3rd to 17th I'm away on holiday as GD4ELI.

Simon's SDR console can add memories and recall them so it won't be a big deal to switch the SDR-IQ input to the FT-950 pigtail and recall the IF setting for panadaptor use and then switch the SDR-IQ input to an antenna and use the SDR console for a shortwave radio. Simon said that a next revision of HRD would have an SDR-IQ mode so you would have your choice of several control surfaces to use. --------------- As an aside, the forum didn't seem to get a lot of input.... this Yahoo group seems to be a big hit! Softrock Si570 control?
Ken , VK7KRJ <vk7krj@...>
Hi all, the latest version of the console gives the impression of being able to control the Si570 on a SoftRock, is this only for a local SoftRock- I can't seem to get it to change the frequency of the SoftRock v9 on my remote computer?
When I go into Input Source, Options, SoftRock Support, it is blank and pressing refresh doesn't do anything. At the moment, I am running Rocky on the remote computer (it's not very remote- it's on the bench next to the computer running SDR-Radio) to change frequency. Am I missing something, or is the remote side of Si570 control still to do? Also Simon, on the latest version, when I move the slider on the lower frequency scale, the upper frequency scale doesn't change to match the new centre frequency any more. However, when I hover the cursor in the main window, the frequency display in the top centre of the main window shows the correct frequency, as does the digital display on the top right. Other than that, it just keeps getting better. Cheers, Ken vk7krj@... www.vk7krj.com 'It seems hard to sneak a look at God's cards.
