Re: SDR Console
I think "attacked" is a strong word. Just close down one ad usually, sometimes not even that. Could at worst be described as a minor irritation (IMHO of course).

Re: Keeping Tuned Freq in Center
Gedas,
With many SDRs the local oscillator is at the centre of the display.
Depending on the exact SDR and mode tuning to the centre may have no effect, a slight effect or even ruin

Re: Antennas: Best Mini-Whip ??
Sure I did !
Against a 10 m, L-shaped wire antenna with a wideband 9:1 transformer, and a buried coaxial cable to the shack. From 0 to 2 MHz, the mini whip is far better.

Most front ends have a gain control on them. Some, such as rtlsdr dongles, have local AGCs. Hopefully those are left off where practical to

Re: Audio volume level passed to apps lower than expected
In console also with agc on
There are sliders also for auto agc
Preset us 130 db... I had better results with turning it down a bit.. Say 60 or 65 db
And try what slope setting you need

One man's disadvantage is another man's advantage. I make overnight recordings of the NDB band. Omnidirectional is perfect for this. If I use the loop, I eliminate signals in two directions. I have

Thanks Simon
Yes, my environment was high noise, and in retrospect , I should have put a choke on the feedline. I also noticed that the LZ1AQ system when used in dipole mode was also a lot noisier

Another disadvantage of e probe/ short vertical etc is that they are omnidirectional..( rx 360 degrees, incase i spelt that wrong.) where as loops are not, which if say your power line is north of

I don't believe that this is an option, at the moment anyway. Seem to remember it was discussed recently but cannot the relevant post. Had a vague recollection that Simon said he would look at it

Manmade noise is mainly E...
Not sure I agree but I only have my house to go by. LEDs, CFLs switching supplies are mainly low voltage high current. Used to be that high voltage was common, but not so
