Well,

Just me I suppose, but it’s not nice to see all the DX stations on 4m using FT8 when there’s a strong E’s opening. For EME it’s fine, that’s the sort of thing WSJT modes are for.

For that reason JS8Call has more appeal but not taken the time to set it up. Did take a quick look but found the procedures somewhat baffling, like DMR modes which I also struggle to understand. Like many things to do with amateur radio, there seems quite a lack of "dummies guides" and sometimes seems that those "in the know" like to keep it that way or can't be bothered with a very basic explanation guide for people just starting off in a mode.

Anyway, well done. Might even catch you on 2, 4 or 6 SSB later in the season if I can stop constant stream of interruptions getting in the way of playing with radios. Got a large roll of Heliax that needs pressing in to action!

Hi,

Yes, using SSB. I listen on FT8 but don’t transmit. E’s have been late starting this year, yesterday was the first real day. Plenty of EAs from Spain & those two bits in N. Africa were on FT8 (Devil Mode) !

Actually, I may look at writing my own FT8 / WSJT Mode console later this year.

Hope to get on 4m myself at some point maybe this summer. Got the kit but no antenna yet. Lump of steel in ground last week ready to take the mast.

Been a very active day for Es on 6m FT8 with huge amount of activity down to Spain and Portugal and 10m still open to South America here on south coast UK even now at well past sunset so things are looking up.

Yes you can.

I’ll help you get set up. I use the DUO to drive 4m / 2m 70cms transverters and direct on 6m.

FWIW seen a couple of HA beacons on 4m at 55dB SNR, I called on SSB – nothing!

Am correct to assume that I can run an FDM-S3, FDM-DUO at the same time provided that I have sufficient bandwidth? I just ordered a PCie USB3 card. The Duo is on its way from the UK.

I have been listening to the audio from FDM DUO video, it is VERY nice indeed. I will most certainly use the SDRC TX audio.

I refer to this:

I have some audio pops and crackles on RX with the S3 but I have not spent much time on it yet, too busy DXing on 6m.

The HL2 gateware from v69 up supports ICOM AH-4 tuner protocol. It does require building two level convertor circuits on the back panel of the transceiver but that is the easy part. Before I run off buying some fet's and building the level convertor I need to ask the following question please.

Does SDR Console supports the TUNE function with the HL2?

Would appreciate some answers.

Hm, it is fancy fun for geeky sorts. It amounts to a development kit with a rather fancy piece of example software. It features freakishly fast synchronization. It looks like it is good enough for most ham use, but I don't know if it tweaks the system clock or not. (Yeah yeah RTFM. But that skips the fun of discovery.) It appears to be nicely geared to mobile equipment. It's fun playing with stuff I remember and disturbing about how much I have forgotten over the years.

With Win 10 it was plug and play. And it integrates with the location services, one presumes automatically. I'd still recommend installing the U-center software.

4) I don't know about that. I posted that a little after Noon yesterday local time. It read 12:xx for the large time indication. The sunrise and sunset times were very definitely UTC with Sunrise about the same as current time. The approximate location is 34.5 N and 117 W. Are there separate time zone settings? An so, this AM after a restart it is making sense. That suggests the change when made did not propagate fully to the SR/SS portion of the display. So perhaps we are both correct.

1) It's your infernal floating point entry dialog that's VERY resistant to me using it. It seems to actively hate me. I clipped the lat and long. I tried highlighting everything, it failed. It highlighting the real part and it failed, as expected. Both times the cursor happened to be in the real part of the dialog as that seemed to make more sense to me.

2) OK, it gave me the impression it was an active client that could reset system time as well as display time.

3) Yeah - the three choices have interesting interactions. It took me aback with the behavior. "Unexpected" is the keyword.
