RRR....one of the things I like to record is military traffic on HF and transmission times are always variable. At times there is interesting traffic but sometimes they will transmit for 10 minutes just a bunch of crypto keys (all  numbers that I do not want). It would be nice to save many hours of monitoring (actually an entire 24 hours) in just one WAV file and pause out the crap that is useless to me. All it wud take is one extra lil button hi-hi. 73

Hi Simon,

Here is the log file you requested.  Taken from CHILD.

My guess is that my problem is truly "basic", and probably reflects
that I don't understand adequately how to set up (and use) Instances.

Perhaps the (very) detailed and exact steps to follow to be able to use one receiver in the main screen, and
the second one in the Child screen would really be helpful.  [my previous Post describes what I've done]

Again, thanks for your time.
I apologize in advance, as I'm sure it's on my end by not understanding adequately.

Regards,
Bob

Coherent dual channel SDR with good dynamic range

Conrad, PA5Y

Helllo all.

In the spring I intending putting up 4 x 6 ele XPOL antennas for 6m EME. Of course I will be using the same system during the Es season and so need 2 things.

  1. Good dynamic range for the Es season
  2. 2 channels which must be coherent for adaptive EME

In fact on Es I will run WSJT-X decoders for FT8 with 0, 45, 90 and 135 degrees. I know from the work of others that there can be a lot of rotation on multihop Es. I think that this will be very interesting which is why I am making the effort.

I have a 2 channel Afedri AFE822x which is almost good enough but I need better dynamic range. What is available?

Regards

Conrad PA5Y

Try some informative captures perhaps? Don't be coy with information. Give us all the open SDRC windows clearly labeled which is which in the names.

The two captures are identical and neither shows any graying.

So there is no information present with which anybody can help you. I don't even know if you are running two of the same identity or two different identities. (I've never tried the former and do not expect it will work properly. The latter works just fine here. Boy howdy it works, RX888 43 MHz plus AirSpy R2 wide open with no problems on a brief run. It brings home the extent Simon has improved his DSP and display handling in the last year and more.)

I’ve been seeing the same signals on Cape Cod, MA, USA, mostly during the day in the same frequency range as Kriss – from the top of the 20-meter amateur band to a couple hundred kHz above the 15-MHz WWV signal.  I just assumed it was some ‘new’ frequency-hopping scheme used by some military or governmental agency.  The signal I saw today had blips scattered between 14700 and 15200 kHz.

Hi,

Very odd – can you click on the Airspy / G31DDC / RSPdx? If so, you should see a list of bandwidths. If not then they aren’t connected.

So:

  • Click on G31DDC
  • If no bandwidths are shown then:
    • Close the Select Radio window
    • Go to Ribbon Bar, Tools, Settings
    • Click on Logfile
    • Save logfile to a text file
    • Attach to your reply

With luck the logfile will tell me more.

Mag loop Simon

Hi

There are loads of “interesting” annoying STRONG signals appearing across bands from 1.8-30plus now..some constantly following muf, some frequency hoping, some carriers of data..some not..

All I expect are military/government ..china and russia are prime movers, but if they are at it you can bet so is usa, uk australia etc..

Thats not vdsl, vdsl is not frequency agile plus it does NOT have gaps in for ham bands..vdsl is a mush of horrible noise across most of bands..( roll on full fibre to houses!)

This is a real signal. I've been seeing it here in Florida also, during daylight hours during the past week. Drug traffickers used a similar-sounding system to talk between south Florida and Norman Cay, Bahamas, in the 6-7 MHz range in the late 1980s (but there was no waterfall for visual comparison back then).

Hello,
Hope everyone had a fine Thanksgiving.

First time I've tried playing with "Instances," and guess I could use
a little help with.

I would like to compare two radios, and have the two of them active, and each showing in a Console screen.
I can switch the ant. between them readily.

So, I call up "Child Instance", and sure enough the screen mirrored appears, and I have 2 screens.
Great.

But, on playing with it, it hangs up, sometimes, with the Not Responding msg.

Or, most of the time, if I pull up the Select Radio screen,
and pick one of three tree radios I have listed, the Start Button is Greyed out.

The only item the Start Button apparently allows me to choose
is:  "Spawned at 29 Nov. ...  (no idea what this is or does)

Might someone please walk me thru getting this working, or point me to a link
describing how to.

Much thanks as always,
Bob
