No Simon, I haven't. I tend to see these 'extra signals' when  using Console. I see a lot less usually in Sharp. So the two programs are not setup the same. I do need to play with it some more.

Tonight I had my Elad S2 running through Console. I was able to clearly hear (and see on the waterfall), the NOAA-18 satellite. The R2 running Sharp had no reception. I was using the same antenna, which was just a FM broadcast band antenna, which is all I have for VHF listening at the moment. Not the right antenna, but the Elad took it and ran. But, there may have been adjustments I could have made to Sharp to improve things.

Anyway that is the way things are at the moment?

George

Give it a new title - "All One", perhaps.

Then on the "View" menues clock on "Colour" (Simon is British and can't spell. {^_-}) It should appear as a selection at the bottom of the list that comes up. Select it. Is this what you wanted?

Please feel free to visit the other available options and experiment gently. Take notes so you can go back to what you had before if necessary. It will likely be rewarding.

Hello Simon,

I would like to see an option to shade the area under the spectrum as a solid color.  I think the clarity is better this way.  SDR Sharp has this capability and really looks nice, but I like using SDRC.

Thanks so much.

Re: Shaded area under the Spectrum

George,

Best settings when using an R2 barefoot on a decent 144MHz antenna on my side is under sdr#, sensitive mode and gain = 16. This is where I find the higher S/N.

Again, it is always a compromise between front-end gain and unwanted mixing/blocking so each location has its rules ...

With an external preamp at the feed of the antenna, R2 gain should be reduced down to 12, empircally found to be the best value as I am monitoring a WSPR beacon 500km apart.

R2 noise figure is around 8-10dB.

In order to correctly tune your R2, SDRCV3 has a S/N meter, just use it and play with the R2 settings in order to maximize the value.

LNA Setting using Airspy R2

George Stein - NJ3H

I currently have a lot of spikes when running the R2 with SDRC in the 2 meter band as shown in the attached picture.  If I reduce thye LNA value for 10 to say 4, those spikes disappear.

What would be a good recommended LNA value to use?  Also recommendations for Mixer and VGA would be helpful as well. I have gain at 10, as recommended by others.

Thanks,
George
