means 7 virtual cables used here together with the full blown
mixer (and additionalli installed lighthost and a few vst plugins to give my audio a better punch and sound) so .. i can highly recommend the mixer and the virtual cables greetz sigi dg9bfc Am 28.08.2021 um 18:30 schrieb Max

Re: Audio Selection
Hello Gedas, A very helpful software mixer I use for almost everything: VOICEMEETER by VB-AUDIO – The world´s most used Virtual Audio Mixer & Sound Tool
Friday, August 27, 2021, 5:23:20 PM, you wrote: Using a RSPdx with SDRC V3.1 and Laptop with W/10. All works aok but then I had the bright idea to install VB Audio to get some VAC going so I could run WSJT etc. That went smooth and was able to make many FB decodes overnight. 1. I wish there was a way to be able to hear what the RSPdx is tuned WHILE it's audio is being ported over to WSJT via the VAC. Is there an easy way of monitoring what the VAC is transferring? 2. The next part has me scratching my head......I am done with WSJT and just want to do some listening on this W10 laptop with the RSPdx. When I go to SDRC/OPTIONS/AUDIO/PLAYBACK/DEVICES I can see my Realtek PC speakers on one line and the VAC on the 2nd line. I select the Realtek PC speakers, hit OK then re-start SDRC hoping to be able to hear the receiver via the speakers but get zip. Is there an easy way to switch from one to the other? I thought the OPTIONS tab is where I make this selection but apparently not. Thanks Gedas, W8BYA EN70JT Gallery at http://w8bya.com (under repair) ---------------------- 73 de Max, N5NHJ (I8NHJ)

Re: Cordless phone RFI
Alan Higbie
Interesting coincidence that you are discussing how you used SDR-Console / SDRPlay to track RFI from DECT cordless phones.
For the first time - I did just that this week while helping a friend. We are tracking 2 RFI sources: (1) powerline source causing RFI on HF has been located & (2) some (as yet) unknown source causing interference to his AT&T and Panasonic DECT phones. These DECT phones operate in the 1.9 GHz range. The exact frequencies were in the user manuals. In investigating this phone RFI problem, we used SDR-Console with an SDRPlay RSPDx. It was very interesting to visualize the transmissions from the base unit and the handsets. His phone RFI is interference TO HIS PHONE - - vs. Allan's RFI from a DECT phone. I have tried other SDR software - but for RFI sleuthing, SDR-C is the best. Its Signal History feature is most helpful. For anyone interested in locating and mitigating RFI sources, be sure to search archives of the RFI reflector: http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/rfi Also, the ARRL's website has a very good RFI page: http://www.arrl.org/radio-frequency-interference-rfi Earlier this year, WD8DSB developed a small UNIDIRECTIONAL and BROADBANDED portable loop antenna for RFI hunting. It was the cover story in QST March, 2021. To me, it seems like a breakthrough. It pairs very well with SDR-Console, SDR receiver, and a laptop. 73, Alan K0AV

Re: SDR server synchronize with collocated Kenwood radio?

We are using RCForb server at the remote and RCForb client on the local, sometimes with DXLabs for logging and radio control.

I will experiment with using the local SDRconsole that is connected to the remote and see if I can get the local interface going with the Hamlib software interface. Gordon - N1MGO

Thanks Dale ! You know all this technology
that we currently have available to us is just mind blowing. I
mean here I am in my recliner listening to VLF down around 20
kHz and just 5 minutes ago had an S9 RS QSO up on 10 GHz.
Never could I have imagined having all this fun when I was a
kid (punk). If only kids nowadays knew how lucky they are to
have all this at their fingertips ! Gedas, W8BYA EN70JT Gallery at http://w8bya.com (under repair) Light travels faster than sound.... This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak. On 8/27/2021 2:56 PM, Dale Elshoff

You can monitor a vac with window setting listen to this device... On my setup i use a mixing software and half a dozen virtual cables... And if needed can switch each of them to the speakers.. Greetz sigi dg9bfc Am 27.08.2021 20:56 schrieb Dale Elshoff WB8CJW <dale.elshoff@...>:

Yes, start a second instance of vac and select the virtual line
you already started as the wave in, then select the speakers you
use as the wave out. I use this all the time to hear what is
selected in sdr console. When you only want to use RSPdx, go to
the task bar, hidden icons onthe right side of task bar, open it
and select the icon for vac, close it out. Only the RSPdx should
be heard then.

Now you will hear the audio that is coming in the VAC and you can mute the system speakers if you don't want to hear the receiver audio but the receiver audio will still be passed to WSJT. Also you can set the appropriate audio level from the Levels tab to get the best decoding. 73, Dale WB8CJW EN80ld

Re: Speech Processor

Mike,
The speech processor is quite good, it’s a compandor followed by a limiter. Let’s see a screenshot of the transmit options while you’re talking, the Spectrum shows the range and relative levels. A few tweaks and you’ll be good to go.

Sorry, another question...
I was wondering what sort of processing the processor function on the transmit audio is. It seems to improve the average to peak power ratio but only by a relatively small amount. By the comment that it makes the audio harsh I rather assume it implements a similar function to rf clipping. I can’t find any description for it in the audio help. Am I right that the audio alc is syllabic in time constant?
I have had a couple of reports that the audio is a bit thin which set me off on this. Playing with the audio filtering and the equaliser doesn’t quite get me what I want. The headset boom mic is not the most expensive I have to say.

Re: Speech Processor
Siegfried Jackstien
Near any mic should give a goid audio... Equalizer plus processing... Maybe switch on the mic boost... Already cranked up mic audio in windows?? If you look in tx tab where the vox slider is.. While talking in the mic (no need to tx!).. How high does the grey bar come up?? (shows raw audio strength that goes IN the console).... Processing with 30 to 40 should give enough boost... Thin audio?? Boost low tones a bit.. Greetz sigi dg9bfc Am 27.08.2021 19:46 schrieb MikeC <mike.christieson@...>:
