I receive group posts by individual email, I'm not a member of the forum, how
do I stop getting the forum notifications on this group list - for me it's
just spam

I don't see the point, if you want to see forum posts go to the forum

Hi,
pls make it possible, to disable SAM, or keep the selected mode "AM".

If I switch to AM, on the next tune to a station (i.e. point&click or
mouse-scroll), SDR Console switches back to SAM.
Using 3.0.24, Airspy HF+ discovery.

For those not familiar with PHP style forums, a very good way of
listing the latest posts across the whole board in chronological order
is to click on "Active Topics" button in the top right.
Jim,

But there is no way to carry on getting all posts and only going to the Forum if I want to comment?

Does SDRC have a way to log average received channel power to file at
regular intervals? I was doing this with SDRuno & it works very well but as
I'm planning to move away from SDRPlay products I'll eventually need to use
something else. HDSDR can do it quite nicely but there appears to be a
rather large time constant (several seconds) applied to the S-meter.
Normally this would be a good thing, but since the power is only recorded at
0.1 dB resolution in HDSDR I prefer to apply less averaging to the recorded
data & do it myself in Excel so I can take advantage of noise dithering to
reduce the quantization error in the final power readings.

I too would like to have the ability to shut off SAM altogether. Mine switches on as well when I least want it.

I 'Think' it has to do with certain external radios and SDRC having an argument about what mode to be in.

Just a simple switch to never use SAM would be great,

Re: Pluto via Ethernet - TX dropouts #pluto

Jean (DJ0VL)

Hi Nils,

As long as my LAN problems persisted, I experienced some waterfall freezes as well, but they were temporary and did not last more than a few seconds. They were always mapped to pairs of entries "Radio PlutoSDR> NOT Ready / Radio PlutoSDR> Ready" in the logfile. Do you see those pairs of messages in your logfile as well? If the time difference between not ready and ready is just some milliseconds, the issue is not due to power interruptions, as rebooting and getting ready on the network takes some seconds.

To narrow down the problem, you can log your network traffic with Wireshark and look for evidence of network problems like errors/warning/repeating packets etc.

Did you enable System Debugger Diagnosis in the Audio options menu? Maybe you can get additional hints from some System Debug entries.

If you are using GPU support and run other programms in parallel that also make usage of the GPU, this may lead to some stuttering of the waterfall as well. While this slows down the response, it does not crash the program.

73 de Jean DJ0VL

Hi All,
a little bit off topic (I don't have dropouts), but my SDR Console freezes from time to time. A message "Radio PlutoSDR> NOT Ready" is visible in SDR Console tmp.txt in some cases (case 1 below).

After the freeze of the dynamic displays (e.g., freeze of the waterfall) either
1.) pressing buttons works, so I can stop radio, open log file, start radio again and go on working, or
2.) pressing buttons leads to "keine Rückmeldung" and I have to stop / restart the whole SDR Console application.
The Pluto seems to not have stopped working meanwhile.

May I assume from the discussion above, that most probably there is a network problem in my setup?

Looking further down the groups site, it appears the 'new' forum is online:
https://forum.sdr-radio.com:4499/index.php
There's a section for Bugs:
https://forum.sdr-radio.com:4499/viewforum.php?f=48
I suggest posting your issue there, be sure to mention that you are using an external radio with Omni rig, etc...

Re: SAM / AM

Kriss Kliegle KA1GJU

Ahhh, the plot thickens!

Sounds like there might be a bug, but only when an external radio is connected. Some sort of interaction between Omnirig and SDRC.
May have to start a new thread to get the Simon's attention #bug.

OK this seems to contradict what Larry said.

The comment about undersampling is interesting. But I'd want to RX around 440 MHz - about the 8th Nyquist band. I already have a nice 5 MHz wide window filter that's essentially a brick wall @ 2 * F3dbBW, so aliasing would be controlled but might this be simply too high a frequency to use the undersampling technique? The motivation would be to bypass the R820T2 to be able to make full use of the 16 bits of dynamic range.

Bob NO6B

The R820T(2) devices (and the older E4000 device) are tuners only. They have no A/D function. So your worry is mooted. You get the full dynamic range available within the limitations of the analog circuitry in the tuner, which is significantly better than 8 bits or even 12 bits. The rtlsdr dongle limitations are in the A/D, DVB decoder, and USB interface chip, the RTL2832 or RTL2838 chip involved.

Re: SAM / AM

Ernst Siderits (OE3IDE)

Hi,
this happens with point&click, scrolling (via Mouse or TMate) and even if I tune via FT-2000 (connected via Omnirig).
I just use the inbuilt "MW" Memory.
I tried also to switch to AM, and refresh the saved "MW" memory (with the small recycle icon).
No change.
I click on a AM BC station, change mode to "AM"... after scrolling to the next BC station, the mode automatically jumps to SAM.
